Franciszek Młokosiewicz
Franciszek Młokosiewicz (May 5, 1769, Koźminek – March 23, 1845, Warsaw) was a Polish officer who served during the Napoleonic Wars and the November Uprising. He served in the Army of the Duchy of Warsaw and participated in the Battle of Fuengirola. Military career The importance of the Battle of Fuengirola was downplayed in both contemporary French and British memoirs. In his memoirs Andrew Blayney denied he was taken captive by the Poles and said it was one of the Society of United Irishmen who captured him. Nevertheless, Blayney's sabre surrendered at Fuengirola remains on display in Kraków's Czartoryski Museum. Following retirement he settled in his wife's manor in Omięcin near Szydłowiec. Although only a Major, he was referred to as "The General" by the local population. During the November Uprising, Młokosiewicz rejoined the Polish Armed Forces. Ludwik Franciszek Młokosiewicz (August 25, 1831 – 1909) was a Polish explorer, zoologist and botanist, who studied extensively in the Caucasus Mountains and discovered various species of plants and animals. Life Młokosiewicz was born in Warsaw, into a wealthy and aristocratic family, son of Polish general Franciszek Młokosiewicz. He spent his childhood in Warsaw and Omięcin. At his father's request, from 1842 he attended the cadet corps in Brześć, however, not interested in a military career, he returned to Warsaw in 1846 and continued his education privately. At the age of twenty-two, when he had to do his compulsory military service in the Imperial Russian Army, he voluntarily joined its Caucasian Division, and in 1853 he was sent to Lagodekhi, on the south-eastern slopes of the Caucasus, in Georgia. Powązki Cemetery (; pl, Cmentarz Powązkowski), also known as Stare Powązki ( en, Old Powązki), is a historic necropolis located in Wola district, in the western part of Warsaw, Poland. It is the most famous cemetery in the city and one of the oldest, having been established in 1790. It is the burial place of many illustrious individuals from Polish history. Some are interred along the "Avenue of the Distinguished" - ''Aleja Zasłużonych'', created in 1925. It is estimated that over 1 million people are buried at Powązki. Wola
Wola (, ) is a district in western Warsaw, Poland, formerly the village of Wielka Wola, incorporated into Warsaw in 1916. An industrial area with traditions reaching back to the early 19th century, it underwent a transformation into an office (commercial) and residential district. Several museums are located in Wola, notably the Warsaw Uprising Museum. Battle Of Warsaw (1831)
The Battle of Warsaw was fought in September 1831 between Imperial Russia and Poland. After a two-day assault on the city's western fortifications, the Polish defences collapsed and the city was evacuated. It was the largest battle and the final episode of the Polish–Russian War of 1830–31, a conflict that became better known as the November Uprising. After almost a year of heavy fighting, a large Russian force crossed the Vistula and besieged the capital of Poland on 20 August.
