Francisco Rodriguez (born December 11, 1972) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball. Amateur career Rodriguez won the Dick Howser Trophy in 1991. At the time of the award, Rodriguez was playing for Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas. As the equivalent of the Heisman Trophy for college football, The Dick Howser Trophy is the annual national award for the outstanding collegiate baseball player. Since 1991, no other junior college baseball player has won the award. Rodriguez was an outstanding shortstop and pitcher for the Howard College Hawks and he led his team to the 1991 National Junior College World Series Championship held annually in Grand Junction, Colorado. Professional career Rodriguez was drafted as a shortstop by the Boston Red Sox in the second round of the 1990 amateur draft. Francisco Antonio Rodríguez Poveda (born 24 November 1938 in Herrera Province) was provisional President of Panama in 1989. Provisional President of Panama Rodríguez became provisional President of Panama on 1 September 1989 following resignation of Manuel Solís Palma. Francisco Rodríguez Adrados (29 March 192221 July 2020) was a Spanish Hellenist, linguist and translator. He worked most of his career at the Complutense University of Madrid. He was a member of the Real Academia Española and Real Academia de la Historia. Life Rodríguez Adrados was born on 29 March 1922 in Salamanca. He studied classical philology at the University of Salamanca, where he obtained a degree in 1944. He later obtained a doctorate in classical philology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Rodríguez Adrados became a teacher of Greek at the Instituto Cardenal Cisneros in Madrid in 1949. Two years later, he became a professor at the University of Barcelona and the next year, he moved to the Complutense University of Madrid, where he worked until his retirement. Francisco Rodríguez (born 18 March 1976) is a Paraguayan former professional tennis player. Tennis career Rodríguez played collegiate tennis for the University of Alabama before turning professional, earning All-American honours for singles in both 1998 and 1999. On the professional tour he won his first ITF Futures singles title in 2003 at Montego Bay and during his career won a further five Futures titles in doubles. He had a career high singles world ranking of 373, attained in 2004. A member of the Paraguay Davis Cup team from 1998 to 2007, Rodríguez featured in a total of 13 ties and won 19 rubbers, 14 of which came in singles. In 2004 he had an upset win over Brazil's top player Marcos Daniel, 11–9 in the fifth set, which helped Paraguay qualify for the Davis Cup World Group playoffs.
