Francisco Gutiérrez Arribas
Francisco Gutiérrez Arribas (1727, San Vicente de Arevalo - 1782, Madrid) was a Spanish sculptor. Life and works His youthful works were all of a religious nature; primarily images of saints, but they were very derivative.''Le Muse'', De Agostini, Novara, 1965, vol. 5 p.454 In 1741, he moved to Madrid, and had the opportunity to improve his skills in the workshops of Luis Salvador Carmona. He developed his personal style by attending the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, where he was exposed to Classical art and monumental sculptures. After returning to Madrid in 1761, he focused on creating secular works; notably a statue of Cybele for a fountain in the Plaza de Cibeles, numerous figures in the Puerta de San Vicente and Puerta de Alcalá and, in the last work, a shield bearing the coat-of-arms of the Borbons. The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (RABASF; ), located on the Calle de Alcalá in the heart of Madrid, currently functions as a museum and gallery. A public law corporation, it is integrated together with other Spanish royal academies in the . History The academy was established by royal decree in 1752. About twenty years later, the enlightened monarch Charles III purchased a palace in Madrid as the academy's new home. The building had been designed by José Benito de Churriguera for the Goyeneche family. The king commissioned Diego de Villanueva to convert the building for academic use, employing a neoclassical style in place of Churriguera's baroque design. Burgo De Osma Cathedral
The Cathedral of Burgo de Osma is a Roman Catholic church located in El Burgo de Osma, central Spain. It is in the Gothic architectural style, and was constructed on an area previously occupied by a Romanesque church. It is one of the best preserved medieval buildings in the country and considered one of the best examples of thirteenth-century gothic architecture in Spain. The building of the church started in 1232, and was completed in 1784. The cloister is from 1512. The tower is from 1739. The cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. Tarazona Cathedral (Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Huerta de Tarazona, originally ''Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Hidria'' or ''Nuestra Señora de la Huerta o de la Vega'') is a Roman Catholic church located in Tarazona, Zaragoza province, in Aragon, Spain. The cathedral's architecture is representative of the Gothic and Mudéjar style, and is one of the few remaining examples of this type of architecture, along with Teruel Cathedral. Biography He was born at Alcántara, Province of Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain. His father, Peter Garavita, was the governor of Alcántara, and his mother was of the noble family of Sanabia. He decided to join the Franciscans at the age of 16 shortly after he was sent to university in Salamanca by his stepfather. Returning home, he became a Franciscan friar of the Stricter Observance in the friary at Manxaretes, Extremadura, in 1515. At the age of twenty-two he was sent to found a new community of the Stricter Observance at Badajoz. He was ordained a priest in 1524, and the following year was appointed Guardian of the friary of St. Mary of the Angels at Robredillo, Old Castile.
