Francisco Fernández de la Cueva, 2nd Duke of Alburquerque (in full, es, Don Francisco Fernández de la Cueva y Mendoza, segundo duque de Alburquerque, segundo conde de Ledesma, segundo conde de Huelma, señor de los estados de Cuéllar, Mombeltrán y Pedro Bernardo) (25 August 1467 – 4 June 1526) was a Spanish nobleman. He was the son of Don Beltrán de la Cueva, 1st Duke of Alburquerque, by first wife Doña Mencía Hurtado de Mendoza y Luna. He served the Catholic Monarchs Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand V of Castile in the Wars of Granada along with his father. He married before January 1485 Dona Francisca Alvarez de Toledo, daughter of García Álvarez de Toledo, 1st Duke of Alba and sister of his first stepmother, and among two other sons and two other daughters he had the oldest daughter Dona Mencía de la Cueva y Alvarez de Toledo, who married as his second wife Don Pedro Fajardo y Chacón Manrique de Lara, 1st Marquess of los Vélez. Francisco Fernández Ochoa
Francisco "Paquito" Fernández Ochoa (25 February 1950 – 6 November 2006) was a World Cup alpine ski racer from Spain. Born in Madrid and raised north of the city in Cercedilla, he was the eldest of eight children whose father ran a ski school. Paquito raced in all of the alpine disciplines and specialized in slalom. At the age of 21, he won an Olympic gold medal in the slalom at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan. He is known for being the first and only Spaniard to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. Career Fernández Ochoa made his international debut at age 17 at the 1968 Winter Olympics, where he finished 38th in the downhill and giant slalom, and 23rd in the slalom. Francisco Fernández Carvajal or Francis Fernandez (born 1938 in Granada) is a Spanish Roman Catholic priest in the Opus Dei Prelature and author of several books. He is best known for his seven volume work ''Hablar con Dios'' (''In Conversation with God''), which has sold over two million copies in several languages, including Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Croatian, Dutch, Romanian, Slovakian and Polish. It consists of over 450 meditations, one or more for every day of the year, as well as three meditations for each Sunday, corresponding to the three-year cycle in the Catholic lectionary. An updated, four volume edition with over 550 meditations was completed in 2004. Francisco Fernández, (1606 in Madrid – 1646) who was brought up in the school of Vincenzo Carducci, Vincenzo Carducho, was one of the most ingenious artists of his time, and his talent gained great reputation for him at an early age. He was employed by Philip IV of Spain, Philip IV in the palaces at Madrid, and in the convent of La Victoria are pictures by him of the ''Death of St. Francis of Paola,'' and ''St. Joachim and St. Anne.'' He also etched five spirited plates of allegories for Carducho's ''Dialogos de la Pintura,'' 1633. He was killed in a quarrel by Francisco de Baras. Notes References
