Francisco Dalupan Sr.
Francisco Tarnate Dalupan Sr. (October 4, 1895 – November 25, 1987) was the founder and first chairman and the president of the University of the East (UE). He was the father of the legendary Filipino basketball coach Virgilio "Baby" Dalupan. Dalupan graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University. Before founding UE, he co-founded the Far Eastern University, which was headed by Nicanor B. Reyes, Sr., then serving as a professor at the University of the Philippines Department of Economics. Together with his colleagues, Dalupan established the Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration (PCCBA) at R. Papa Street, Sampaloc, Manila in 1946. The PCCBA admitted 350 students in the summer of 1947. The following year, more students enrolled and so more academic units had to be organized, and the PCCBA moved to what is now UE's main campus on Claro M. Recto Avenue. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is the title of qualified accountants in numerous countries in the English-speaking world. Saint Hermenegild or Ermengild (died 13 April 585; es, San Hermenegildo; la, Hermenegildus, from Gothic ''*Airmana-gild'', "immense tribute"), was the son of king Liuvigild of the Visigothic Kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula and southern France. He fell out with his father in 579, then revolted the following year. During his rebellion, he converted from Arianism to Catholicism. Hermenegild was defeated in 584 and exiled. His death was later celebrated as a martyrdom due to the influence of Pope Gregory I's ''Dialogues'', in which he portrayed Hermenegild as a "Catholic martyr rebelling against the tyranny of an Arian father." The Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration (PCCBA) is the former name of the University of the East, Manila, Philippines. Established in 1946. On September 11, 1946, five people from the Far Eastern University, namely Francisco Dalupan, Sr., Hermenegildo Reyes, José L. Torres, Jaime Hernández and Santiago de la Cruz established the Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration (PCCBA). Four days later, it was deemed a corporation existing under Philippine law. A business educator himself, Francisco Dalupan establish PCCBA in two rented rooms along Dasmarinas Street, Manila. The success of its CPA reviewers, four of whom secured the top four post and 100 passers out of the 110 enrolled, made the humble review center popular.
