Francisco Campbell
Francisco Obadiah Campbell Hooker is the Nicaraguan Ambassador to the United States. He assumed the post in 2010; prior to that he served as deputy to the Central American Parliament. In March 2022, Campbell was also appointed Nicaraguan ambassador to the Organization of American States; he replaced ambassador Arturo McFields after McFields denounced the administration of President Daniel Ortega as a "dictatorship" following the widespread arrests and prosecution of aspiring 2021 presidential candidates and other opposition figures. Campbell is married to Miriam Hooker, who serves as Consul at the Nicaraguan embassy in the US. Two of their children, Mabel Leilani Campbell Hooker and Michael Campbell Hooker, have posts representing Nicaragua abroad; Mabel is Press and Cultural Attaché to the embassy in the US. Central American Parliament
The Central American Parliament ( es, Parlamento Centroamericano), also known as PARLACEN, is the political institution and parliamentary body of the Central American Integration System (SICA). Its headquarters are in Guatemala City. History The PARLACEN origins date back to the Contadora Group, a project of the 1980s that sought to help resolve the civil wars in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Although the Contadora group was disbanded in 1986, the idea of a greater Central American integration remained, giving rise to the Esquipulas II Agreement, which among other things, created the Central American Parliament. Daniel Ortega
José Daniel Ortega Saavedra (; born 11 November 1945) is a Nicaraguans, Nicaraguan revolutionary and politician serving as President of Nicaragua since 2007. Previously he was leader of Nicaragua from 1979 to 1990, first as coordinator of the Junta of National Reconstruction (1979–1985) and then as President of Nicaragua (1985–1990). In the 1984 Nicaraguan general election, Ortega won Nicaragua's presidential election as the FSLN's candidate. A Marxist–Leninist, Ortega pursued a program of nationalization, land reform, wealth redistribution, and the Nicaraguan Literacy Campaign during his first period in office. 2021 Nicaraguan General Election
General elections were held in Nicaragua on 7 November 2021 to elect the President, the National Assembly and members of the Central American Parliament. President Daniel Ortega of the Sandinista National Liberation Front sought re-election, while five opposition candidates appeared on the ballot. In early June, police arrested five other potential opposition candidates: Cristiana Chamorro Barrios, Arturo Cruz Jr., Félix Maradiaga, Juan Sebastián Chamorro and Miguel Mora. In July, candidates Medardo Mairena and were arrested, while Luis Fley and went into exile due to threats of arrest. Critics stated that these arrests were intended to prevent the opposition candidates from running against Ortega. Miriam Hooker
Miriam ( he, מִרְיָם ''Mīryām'', lit. 'Rebellion') is described in the Hebrew Bible as the daughter of Amram and Jochebed, and the older sister of Moses and Aaron. She was a prophetess and first appears in the Book of Exodus. The Torah refers to her as "Miriam the Prophetess" and the Talmud names her as one of the seven major female prophets of Israel. Lumberto Ignacio Campbell (born February 3, 1949) is a Nicaraguan Sandinista politician. Campbell was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua and was the only Creole guerilla commander in the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), known by the nom de guerre "El Negro". The Supreme Electoral Council ( es, Consejo Supremo Electoral, CSE) is the public body responsible for organizing elections in Nicaragua. Roberto Rivas Reyes has been president of the CSE since July 2000, though as of January 2018, vice-president Lumberto Campbell functioned as acting head of the organization.
