Francisco Bueso
Doctor Francisco Bueso Cuéllar (born 1860) was acting president of Honduras for less than two months, from 10 March to 27 April 1924. He served as vice president of Honduras in the cabinet of General Rafael López Gutiérrez. When López Gutiérrez died while in office, Bueso succeeded him. However, Bueso, in turn, was driven from the capital by rebels led by General Tiburcio Carías Andino, who took charge of the country as first chief of the Liberating Revolution. By 31 March, the United States had sent 176 officers and men from the cruiser to land at Amapala to quell the disturbance. Rafael López Gutiérrez
General Rafael Salvador López Gutiérrez (11 May 1854 – 16 March 1924) was President of Honduras from 1 February 1920 to 10 March 1924. A former general in the Honduran Army, Gutierrez attempted to extend his term in office past its designated end, and was forced from office. He died in Amapala on 16 March 1924, suffering from diabetes, after a failed attempt to escape to the United States for insulin treatment. Life Lopez-Gutiérrez was born to Soledad Gutiérrez Lozano and Juan López Gutiérrez on 11 May 1854 in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa. His family was very influential for example his father was the provisional President of Honduras in 1855. Tiburcio Carías Andino (5 March 1876 – 23 December 1969) was a Honduran politician and military officer with the rank of Major General. Thirty-eighth president of the Republic of Honduras, constitutional period from 1924 and thereafter in the form of a dictatorial regime for 1933 until 1949. He was elected president of Honduras in the midst of a deep world depression. He strengthened the Armed Forces, maintained the support of the banana companies by opposing strikes, and kept the country in strict adherence to debt payments. Amapala
Amapala is a municipality in the Honduran department of Valle. It is formed by El Tigre Island and its satellite islets and rocks in the Gulf of Fonseca. It has an area of and a population of 2,482 as of the census of 2001 (of which 4 people were living on Isla Comandante). Thanks to a natural deep channel, and despite lacking modern infrastructure, Amapala long served as the main Honduran port in the Pacific Ocean. History The name of the island on which Amapala is based is due to the fact that in the 16th century a group of pirates operated by the pirate Francis Drake operated on the island, he and his men were considered by the inhabitants of the area as wild and bloody beasts , so they called the island "Cerro de El Tigre".
