Francisco Antonio Ruiz
Francisco Antonio Ruiz (c. 1804 – October 18, 1876) was the '' alcalde'' of San Antonio during the Texas Revolution and was responsible for identifying the bodies of those killed at the Battle of the Alamo. Biography Ruiz was born between 1804 and 1811 in San Antonio, then part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain interior province of Spanish Texas. He was the eldest son of José Francisco Ruiz and Josefa Hernandez. Ruiz supported the Texian cause during the Texas Revolution, when he was the alcade of San Antonio. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna did not trust Ruiz, and when the Mexican army entered San Antonio to begin the siege of the Alamo, Santa Anna placed Ruiz under house arrest. At the conclusion of the battle, Santa Anna ordered Ruiz to identify the bodies of David Crockett, James Bowie, and William Barret Travis and to dispose of the dead. Carlos De La Garza
Captain Carlos de la Garza (1807–1882), also known as "Don Carlos," was a fourth generation Tejano rancher and entrepreneur in Goliad, Victoria and Refugio counties of Texas. His participation in the Mexican Army leading to the Battle of Coleto was instrumental in the surrender and demise of Colonel James Fannin and the Texian forces. Early life Carlos was both a Tejano (Mexican born in Texas, or Tejas) and a Labadeño, or Badeño, (a descendant of a Presidio La Bahía soldier). Born in 1807 at the presidio, to soldier José Antonio de la Garza and his wife Rosalia, the family established a ''rancho'' (Mexican ranch) on land owned by Mission La Bahía. Susannah Dickinson
Susanna Wilkerson Dickinson (1813 – October 7, 1883) and her infant daughter, Angelina, were among the few American survivors of 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Her husband, Almaron Dickinson, and 185 other Texian defenders were killed by the Mexican Army. Early life In Tennessee's Williamson County, Susanna was born in 1814, yet she never learned to read or write. She married Almaron Dickinson on May 24, 1829, when she was only 15 years old. After acquiring land along the San Marcos River, they became DeWitt Colonists two years later. They then constructed a blacksmith shop there and made investments in fellow colonist George Kimbell's Gonzales hat business.
