Francis Albert Marshall
Francis Albert Marshall (November 1840 in London – 28 December 1889 in London) was a British playwright. Life He was the fifth son of William Marshall (1796–1872) of Patterdale Hall and Hallstead, Westmoreland. The father was M.P. for Beverley (1831–2), Carlisle (1835–47) and East Cumberland (1847–65) and married, 17 June 1828, Georgiana Christiana, seventh daughter of George Hibbert of Munden, Hertfordshire. Francis was educated at Harrow, and matriculated from Exeter College, Oxford, on 14 June 1859, but did not take a degree. For several years a clerk in the audit office in Somerset House, but soon began contributing to newspapers and periodicals, and in 1868 resigned his appointment. He had already made some reputation as a playwright, and soon afterwards became dramatic critic to the ''London Figaro''. With W. G. Francis Marshall (British Army Officer)
Major-General Francis James Marshall (20 August 1876 – 22 May 1942) was a British Army officer. Military career Marshall was commissioned into the Seaforth Highlanders on 28 September 1895. He became commander of 150th (York and Durham) Brigade in June 1918 and General Officer Commanding 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division in September 1918 on the Western Front during the First World War. He went on to be Director of Military Training at the War Office in 1920, commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade in October 1923 and General Officer Commanding 54th (East Anglian) Infantry Division in September 1930 before retiring in September 1934. Francis Marshall (physiologist)
Francis Hugh Adam Marshall CBE FRS FRSE LLD (11 July 1878, High Wycombe – 5 February 1949, Cambridge) was a British physiologist who did pioneering early research into the physiology and endocrinology of biological reproduction. Early life and education Marshall was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, the son of Thomas Marshall and Mary née Lucas. He was educated at St Mark's School in Windsor then Southborough School in Tunbridge Wells. He studied at University College, London, and then at the University of Cambridge, graduating from Christ's College, Cambridge in 1900. He did further postgraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh gaining his first doctorate (DSc). Career and research Marshall's first position was a research assistant to James Cossar Ewart in Edinburgh, assisting Ewart's work on the now-discredited theory of telegony. Francis William Marshall (30 January 1888 – 24 May 1955) was an English cricketer. Marshall was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Rugby, Warwickshire. Marshall made two first-class appearances for Warwickshire in the 1922 County Championship, with both matches coming against Lancashire. In the first match at Old Trafford, Marshall wasn't required to bat in a rain which was curtailed due to rain. In his second appearance at Edgbaston, Marshall made scores of 10 in Warwickshire's first-innings, before being dismissed by Cec Parkin, and 4 runs in their second-innings, before being dismissed by the same bowler.
