	Francis Howell (philosopher) Francis Howell (1625–1679) was Principal of Jesus College, Oxford, from 1657 to 1660. Life Howell was born in Gwinear, Cornwall, Gwinear in Cornwall. He was White's Professor of Moral Philosophy between 1654 and 1657. He was a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford and was appointed to the position of Principal of Jesus College by Oliver Cromwell, in preference to Seth Ward (bishop), Seth Ward, who was the choice of the Oxbridge Fellow, fellows of the college. The college has had strong links to Wales since its foundation. In contrast, Howell was originally from Cornwall and was the first principal not to be either Welsh or of Welsh descent (and the last until 1921). Howell remained in post until Stuart Restoration, The Restoration, when Francis Mansell became Principal for the third and final time. 	Francis Clark Howell Francis Clark Howell (November 27, 1925 – March 10, 2007), generally known as F. Clark Howell, was an American anthropologist. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, F. Clark Howell grew up in Kansas, where he became interested in natural history. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater. Howell was educated at the University of Chicago, where he received his Ph.B., A.M. and Ph.D. degrees under the tutelage of Sherwood L. Washburn. Dr. Howell died of metastatic lung cancer on March 10, 2007 at age 81 at his home in Berkeley, California. Academic career Howell began his career in the Anatomy Department of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1953, and stayed there for only two years before moving back to his alma mater, the University of Chicago. Through mergers, it became the Consolidated School District No. 2 of St. Charles County in 1913, and the Francis Howell Reorganized School District #3 in 1951. Population growth in the 1970s and 1980s, and continued into the 1990s. In the last five years student enrollment growth has shown a slight decline from year to year. The school is located in Cottleville, Missouri, but a large part of its student population comes from its larger neighbor St. Peters. Home of the Spartans, Francis Howell Central is a four-year comprehensive high school offering programs in college preparatory, vocational, honors/advanced credit, advanced placement and a special education program. History FHC opened in the fall of 1997 with only freshmen and sophomore students. History After Francis Howell High School alone could no longer support the burgeoning population of its part of St. Charles County in 1983, Henderson Junior High School was built on Hackmann Road on the border of the cities of St. Charles and St. Peters. Henderson was eventually expanded and the name was changed to Francis Howell North High School and began taking high school students in 1986.
