Sir Francis Hamilton, 1st Baronet, Of Killock
Sir Francis Hamilton, 1st Baronet, of Killock (1606–1673), also called of Castle Hamilton and of Killeshandra, was an Irish landowner and Member of the Irish Parliaments of 1640–1649 and 1661–1666. Birth and origins Francis was born in 1606, the eldest son of Claud Hamilton of Clonyn and his wife Jane Lauder. His father was the second son of Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick in Scotland. Francis was called "of Creichness" in Scotland and "of Clonyn" (County Cavan) in Ireland. Francis's mother was a daughter of Robert Lauder of the Bass in Scotland. Ulster Plantation On 23 June 1610 Francis's grandfather Alexander was granted the great (2000 acres) proportion of Clonyn, also known as Tagleagh, in the Tullaghchinko (also called Tollochonee) precinct, County Cavan. Francis Buchanan-Hamilton
Francis Buchanan (15 February 1762 – 15 June 1829), later known as Francis Hamilton but often referred to as Francis Buchanan-Hamilton, was a Scottish physician who made significant contributions as a geographer, zoologist, and botanist while living in India. He did not assume the name of Hamilton until three years after his retirement from India. The standard botanical author abbreviation Buch.-Ham. is applied to plants and animals he described, though today the form "Hamilton, 1822" is more usually seen in ichthyology and is preferred by Fishbase. Early life Francis Buchanan was born at Bardowie, Callander, Perthshire where Elizabeth, his mother, lived on the estate of Branziet; his father Thomas, a physician, came in Spittal and claimed the chiefdom of the name of Buchanan and owned the Leny estate. Francis Alvin George Hamilton, (March 30, 1912June 29, 2004) was a Canadian politician. Hamilton led the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan from 1949 until he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1957 general election. That election brought the federal Progressive Conservative Party of Canada to power under John Diefenbaker. He served as Minister of Northern Affairs and National Resources, 1957 to 1960. He promoted a new vision of northern development. He was Minister of Agriculture, 1960 to 1963, where he promoted wheat sales to China.Kyba, 1989. Sir Francis Hamilton, 3rd Baronet (c.1640 – 4 February 1714) was an Anglo-Irish politician.
