Camberwell, Victoria
Camberwell is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 9 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Boroondara local government area. Camberwell recorded a population of 21,965 at the 2021 census. The western, southern and eastern boundaries of the suburb generally follow Burke Road, Toorak Road and Warrigal Road respectively. David Derham
Sir David Plumley Derham (13 May 1920 – 1 September 1985) was an Australian jurist and university administrator. He was an expert in Australian constitutional law. In 1963, he became the Foundation Dean of Monash University Law School, which is now called the David Derham School of Law in his honour. Early life and education Derham was born in Australia in 1920, the son of Alfred Plumley Derham , an Australian soldier and doctor, and Frances Derham MBE, an Australian lecturer in art. He was educated at Trinity Grammar School, Kew and Scotch College, Melbourne. David Derham served for four years in the Australian Imperial Force in World War II, before going on to complete a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Melbourne in 1947. He graduated first in his year level, winning the Supreme Court Prize. The British Army replaced the rank of brigadier general with colonel-commandant in 1922, and then with brigadier in 1928. The Australian Army did something similar. Jack Stevens
Major General Sir Jack Edwin Stawell Stevens, (7 September 1896 – 20 May 1969) was a senior officer in the Australian Army during the Second World War. He was best known as the commanding officer of the 6th Division from 1943 to 1945. Early life Born on 7 September 1896 at Daylesford, Victoria, Stevens was the youngest child of Herbert Clarence Stevens and Violet Ophelia, née Bury. He attended schooling at Daylesford. He began working at the age of 12 at a cigar factory, before joining the Postmaster-General's Department as a clerk in the electrical engineers' branch in 1915. First World War Stevens enlisted on 2 July 1915 in the Australian Imperial Force in the Signal Corp and sailed for Egypt in November with the rank of corporal. He was promoted in March 1916 to sergeant and served with the 4th Divisional Signal Company.
