Francis D. Imbuga
Francis Davis Imbuga was born in Wenyange village, West Maragoli in Western Kenya in 1947. He was a Kenyan writer, playwright, literature scholar, teacher and professor at Kenyatta University. His works, including ''Aminata'' /sup> and ''Betrayal in the City'', /sup> have become staples in the study of literature schools in Kenya. His works have consistently dealt with issues such as the clashes of modernity and tradition in the social organisation of African communities. His play ''Betrayal in the City'' was Kenya's entry to FESTAC. Education He attended Keveye Primary school and Chavakali Intermediate School. In 1963 he joined Alliance High School. Imbuga studied at the University of Nairobi where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973 and a Master of Arts degree in 1975. Western Province (Kenya)
After the 2013 general election, and the coming into effect of the new constitution, provinces became defunct and the country was now divided into 47 counties. Each county has its own government and therefore there is no central regional capital. Western Province became the Western region, comprising four counties: Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, and Busia. The Alliance High School (or AHS) popularly known as "Bush", is a public national high school for boys located in Kikuyu, Kiambu, Kenya. Established on 1 March 1926 by the Alliance of Protestant Churches - The Church of Scotland Mission (later known as the Presbyterian Church of East Africa or PCEA), Church of the Province of Kenya (CPK) (later known as the Anglican Church of Kenya), African Inland Church (AIC), the Friends Church (Quakers) and the Methodist Church, the school was one of the first schools in Kenya to offer secondary school education to Africans. Kenya National Theatre
Kenya National Theatre is part of the Kenya Cultural Centre, a Semi Autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of State for National Heritage and Culture in Kenya. It is mandated to offer space for the rehearsal and staging of productions to both local and international repertoire. It is based in Nairobi along Harry Thuku Road and borders the University of Nairobi (UON), The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and The Fairmont Norfolk Hotel. The history of the building has viewed its location as a hurdle for an earnest identification with the local artistic performances. Kenya Broadcasting Corporation
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is the state-run media organisation of Kenya. It broadcasts in English and Swahili, as well as in most local languages of Kenya. The corporation started its life in 1928 when Kenya was a British colony. It was the first station in Kenya. In 1964, when Kenya became an independent country, the corporation's name was changed to Voice of Kenya. In 1989, the Kenyan parliament reverted the corporation's name from Voice of Kenya to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. During the rule of president Daniel arap Moi, KBC became the mouthpiece of the government. Each broadcast opened with a piece on what the president had been doing that day.
