Francis Godolphin Bond
Francis Godolphin Bond (23 January 1765 – 26 October 1839, Exeter) was a Rear-Admiral in the British Royal Navy. He was a nephew of William Bligh and grandfather of Frederick Bligh Bond. He sailed as Bligh's First Lieutenant on HMS Providence, Bligh's second breadfruit mission to Tahiti following the ill-fated Bounty voyage. In 1798 as a Lieutenant he commissioned the newly acquired . Under his command, ''Netley'' captured numerous French and Spanish privateers, including ''Egyptienne''. In all, under Bond ''Netley'' captured some 45 prizes, including 19 armed privateers. ''Reina Luisa'' alone was valued for purposes of prize money at £24,000.} If Bond received the full ¼ due the captain of the capturing vessel(s), his share would have been £6,000, or an amount equivalent to about 15 years pay for a senior captain (in rank). Francis George Bond
Major-General Sir Francis George Bond, (10 August 1856 – 15 August 1930) was a British Army officer who served with the Royal Engineers in various campaigns in the 19th and early 20th centuries. He was a keen amateur sportsman, who played football for the Royal Engineers in the 1878 FA Cup Final. Family and education Bond was born at Marlborough, Wiltshire, on 10 August 1856, the eldest son of Revd. Frederick Hookey Bond (1821–1897) and his wife, Mary Isabella née Delafosse (1833–1916). His father was the headmaster of Marlborough Royal Free Grammar School from 1853 to 1876. His paternal grandfather was Francis Godolphin Bond (1765–1839), who was a Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy. With his parentage, Bond was originally intended for a career as a naval chaplain, before opting for a military career.
