Andrea Della Valle
Cardinal Andrea della Valle (29 November 1463, in Rome – 3 August 1534) was an Italian clergyman and art collector. Life Andrea belonged to an ancient family of Roman nobles. He was the son of Filippo della Valle, a Roman patrician; the family tomb is in Santa Maria in Aracoeli, where an inscription to their father was placed by Andrea and his brother Bartolomeo. Andrea also had a sister, Sigismonda. Andrea was elected bishop of Crotone in 1496. In 1503-05 he directed the Apostolic Chancery, and served as Apostolic secretary during the pontificate of Pope Julius II. He was transferred to the titular diocese of Miletus in 1508, which he resigned in favor of his nephew Quinzio Rustici on 26 November 1523. Della Rovere Family
The House of Della Rovere (; literally "of the oak tree") was a noble family of Italy. It had humble origins in Savona, in Liguria, and acquired power and influence through nepotism and ambitious marriages arranged by two Della Rovere popes: Francesco Della Rovere, who ruled as Sixtus IV from 1471 to 1484) and his nephew Giuliano, who became Julius II in 1503. Francesco di Tommaso Soderini (10 June 1453 – 17 May 1524) was a major diplomatic and Church figure of Renaissance Italy, and brother of Piero Soderini. He was an adversary of the Medici family. Biography Sisto Gara della Rovere was born in Savona in 1473, the son of Gabriele Gara and Luchina Della Rovere, a member of the House of della Rovere. He was the nephew of Pope Julius II and the grand-nephew of Pope Sixtus IV. He was the half-brother of Cardinal Galeotto Franciotti della Rovere. Pope Julius II made him a cardinal priest in the consistory of 11 September 1507. He received the red hat and the titular church of San Pietro in Vincoli on the same day. He also became Vice-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Church at this time, holding that office for the rest of his life.
