Francesco Maggiotto
Francesco Fedeli, nicknamed Francesco Maggiotto or also il Maggiotto (1738 – 13 September 1805) was an Italian painter from Venice. Life Francesco Maggiotto was the son of Domenico Fedeli, with whom he shared the nickname "Maggiotto"; in the early years he was trained in the same style as his father's. At first, he was also influenced, among others, by Piazzetta, Pittoni, Tiepolo and Zuccarelli, drawing inspiration from contemporary painting styles. The painting ''La Pittura e la Natura'' (1769) was painted in this early period, and Maggiotto offered it to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia; today it is still stored in the Gallerie dell'Accademia . He also imitated Pietro Longhi's style but with less irony and greater moralism. In the following years, his painting style became more detached and the commission of works about Mythology and Religion increased. Scuola Grande Di San Giovanni Evangelista
The Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista is a confraternity building located in the San Polo ''sestiere'' of the Italian city of Venice. Founded in the 13th century by a group of flagellants it was later to become one of the five ''Scuole Grandi'' of Venice. These organisations provided a variety of charitable functions in the city as well as becoming patrons of the arts. The Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista is notable for housing a relic of the true cross and for the series of paintings it commissioned from a number of famous Venetian artists depicting ''Miracles of the Holy Cross''. No longer in the school, these came into public ownership during the Napoleonic era and are now housed in the Gallerie dell'Accademia. Francesco Hayez
Francesco Hayez (; 10 February 1791 – 12 February 1882) was an Italian painter. He is considered one of the leading artists of Romanticism in mid-19th-century Milan, and is renowned for his grand historical paintings, political allegories, and portraits. Biography Francesco Hayez was from a relatively poor family from Venice. His father, Giovanni, was of French origin while his mother, Chiara Torcella, was from Murano. Natale Schiavoni
Natale Schiavoni (25 April 1777 – 15 April 1858) was an Italian painter and engraver, specializing in history and portraits. Many of his paintings depict seductive nubile women. Biography Schiavoni was born in Chioggia, near Venice, and was claimed by Frederick Mason Perkins to be a distant descendant of Andrea Schiavone, the Renaissance painter. In Venice, he trained with Francesco Maggiotto and later came under the influence of the Neoclassicism. He was peripatetic, traveling in 1800 to Trieste, and in 1810 to Milan, where he painted Eugène de Beauharnais and the royal family. In Milan, he was able to frequent the studios of Appiani, Longhi, and Sabatelli. In 1816, Schiavoni was invited by the Austrian emperor to Vienna, to become the official portraitist for the court.
