Francesco Buoneri
Cecco del Caravaggio (active – mid-1620s), is the notname given to a painter who worked in Rome in the early decades of the 17th century and was an important early follower of Caravaggio (1571–1610). In the past art historians have suggested he may have been a Flemish, French or Spanish Caravaggist but more recently some have identified the artist with Francesco Boneri (or Buoneri), although this is not universally accepted. ''John the Baptist'' (sometimes called ''John in the Wilderness'') was the subject of at least eight paintings by the Italian Baroque artist Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571–1610). The story of John the Baptist is told in the Gospels. John was the cousin of Jesus, and his calling was to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. He lived in the wilderness of Judea between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, "his raiment of camel's hair, and a leather girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey." He baptised Jesus in the Jordan, and was eventually killed by Herod Antipas when he called upon the king to reform his evil ways. Bartolomeo Manfredi
Bartolomeo Manfredi (baptised 25 August 1582 – 12 December 1622) was an Italian painter, a leading member of the Caravaggisti (followers of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio) of the early 17th century. Life Manfredi was born in Ostiano, near Cremona. He may have been a pupil of Caravaggio in Rome: at his famous libel trial in 1603 Caravaggio mentioned that a certain Bartolomeo Cristofori, accused of distributing scurrilous poems attacking Caravaggio's detested rival Baglione, had been a servant of his. The Resurrection (Cecco Del Caravaggio)
The ''Resurrection'' by Cecco del Caravaggio, the Italian Baroque painter, is the only painting known for certain to be his. It was commissioned in 1619 by Piero Guicciardini, the Tuscan ambassador to Rome. Through the use of alternate strong lights and deep shadows the chiaroscuro highlights the vividness of the dramatic scene. One of Cecco's most notable works, the painting is in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. History and description The painting depicts the moment of the resurrection as described in Gospel of Matthew 28:2: The artwork is a large-scale painting intended for private devotion. Peter Robb (born 1946 in Toorak, Melbourne) is an Australian author. Robb spent his formative years in Australia and New Zealand. As a young man he was involved in a small Trotskyist organisation named the Communist League, which was sympathetic to the Fourth International. Robb helped produced its newspaper, ''Militant'', and was also key in the departure of a section of the Communist League's leadership, through absorption by the Socialist Workers Party in 1976 (see Fusion Statement of SWP and ex-CL Group in "Direct Action", 25 November 1976). Robb left Australia 1978, and lived much of the time in Naples and southern Italy, interspersed with sojourns to Brazil. At the end of 1992 he returned to Sydney. ''Amor Vincit Omnia'' ("Love Conquers All" in Latin, known in English by a variety of names including ''Amor Victorious'', ''Victorious Cupid'', ''Love Triumphant'', ''Love Victorious'', or ''Earthly Love'') is a painting by the Italian Baroque artist Caravaggio.
