Francesco Altimari
Francesco Altimari ( sq, Françesko Altimari, link=no) is an Italian scholar in the field of Albanology. He is honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of Albania (2006), external member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo (2008) and full professor (1991) of the Albanology section of the University of Calabria. Early life Altimari was born on 21 February 1955 in San Demetrio Corone in Calabria, Italy and is of Arbëreshë descent. After finishing the lyceum in his hometown in 1973, he graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of the University of Calabria in 1978. Academic life Altimari worked as a teacher of the Albanian language (1980–1986). Albanology
Albanology, also known as Albanian studies, is an interdisciplinary branch of the humanities that addresses the language, costume, literature, art, culture and history of Albanians. Within the studies the scientific methods of literature, linguistics, archeology, history and culture are used. However the Albanian language is the main point of research of the studies. Studies Johann Erich Thunmann in the 18th century was probably the first Albanologist. He supported the theory of the autochthony of the Albanians and also presented the Illyrian origin theory. Later on Gustav Meyer proved that Albanian language was part of the Indo-European family. In the 20th century such studies were deepened by Norbert Jokl, Milan Šufflay, and Franz Nopcsa von Felső-Szilvás, as well as Karl Reinhold, and Eqrem Çabej. Pasquale Scutari
Pasquale Scutari is an Italian linguist and Albanologist. Scutari was born in the Arbereshe San Costantino Albanese in the Province of Potenza, southern Italy in 1952. He graduated from the "Istituto Magistrale di Lagonegro" and later he enrolled in the Faculty of Philology of the University of Bari in 1976. As a very fond of Arbereshe language person, he has participated in many convents and seminars, between others "La diversità linguistica, patrimonio culturale della Basilicata" (The linguistic diversity, cultural patrimony of Basilicata), held in San Costantino Albanese in 2004. He received a docent title from the University of Basilicata in 2003 with the title "Operatore linguistico e culturale di area arbëreshe" (Linguistic and cultural operator in the Arbereshe area). Girolamo de Rada ( Arbërisht: ''Jeronim de Rada''; 29 November 181428 February 1903) was an Arbëreshë folklorist, journalist, lawyer, playwright, poet, rilindas and writer. He is regarded as one of the most influential Albanian writers of the 19th century who played an essential role in the Albanian Renaissance.
