Frances Strickland
Frances Smith Strickland (born Frances Smith c. 1941) is an American educational psychologist who, as wife of Governor Ted Strickland, served as the First Lady of Ohio from January 8, 2007, to January 8, 2011. Biography Frances Smith grew up on a dairy farm in Simpsonville, Kentucky. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Murray State University in 1963, she taught at Westport High School in Jefferson County and worked at various residential programs for children. In 1976, Smith received her doctorate in educational psychology at the University of Kentucky. She met Ted Strickland there the day after Christmas in 1973. They married exactly 13 years later, in 1987, and chose not to have children due to their age. After she graduated, Frances Strickland served as a public school psychologist for many years. Ted Strickland
Theodore Strickland (born August 4, 1941) is an American politician who was the 68th governor of Ohio, serving from 2007 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the United States House of Representatives, representing (1993–1995, 1997–2007). In the 2006 gubernatorial election, Strickland was elected to succeed term-limited Republican incumbent Bob Taft, receiving 60% of the vote and defeating Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. He was narrowly defeated for re-election in the 2010 gubernatorial election by former U.S. Representative John Kasich. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. A plectrum or individual finger picks may also be used to strike the strings. The sound of the guitar is projected either acoustically, by means of a resonant chamber on the instrument, or amplified by an electronic pickup and an amplifier. Block Communications Inc. (also known as Blade Communications) is an American privately held holding company of various assets, mainly in the print and broadcast media, based in Toledo, Ohio. The company was founded in 1900 in New York City when Paul Block, a German-Jewish immigrant who came to the United States fifteen years prior, formed an ad representation firm for newspapers. The Block empire grew to encompass many newspapers on the east coast of the US, however with the Great Depression in the 1930s came the loss of all but three properties: the ad representation firm, the ''Pittsburgh Post-Gazette'', and the Toledo ''Blade'' (where Block eventually settled the company upon its purchase in 1927).
