Frances Reid (director)
Frances Reid is an American filmmaker, producer and cinematographer known for her documentaries. She has been in filmmaking for three decades. In 1994, she was nominated alongside director Dee Mosbacher for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for '' Straight from the Heart'', which explored relationships between straight parents and their gay children. She was again nominated for an Oscar for producing and directing ''Long Night's Journey into Day'' (2000). Women’s Institute for Freedom of the Press (WIFP) is an American nonprofit publishing organization that was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1972. Diane "Dee" Mosbacher, MD, Ph.D., (born January 13, 1949 in Houston, Texas) is an American filmmaker, lesbian feminist activist, and practicing psychiatrist. In 1993, she founded Woman Vision, a nonprofit organization to promote equal treatment of all people through the production and use of educational media, including video. Early life and education Mosbacher is the daughter of the late Jane Pennybacker Mosbacher and Robert Mosbacher (1927–2010), who served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce under George H. W.
