Frances-Anne Solomon
Frances-Anne Solomon (born 28 June 1966) is an English-Caribbean-Canadian filmmaker, writer, producer, and distributor. She has lived in Britain, Barbados and Toronto, Canada. Biography Born in England of Trinidadian parents, who had gone to Britain in 1958, Frances-Anne Solomon began her professional life at the BBC in England, where she built a successful career as a producer, first with BBC Radio then with BBC television drama. She also produced and directed independent films through her company Leda Serene Films. In 1999, she moved her company to Canada, where she continued to write, direct, and produce films, television programs, theatre plays, and new media projects. In 2001, she founded the CaribbeanTales Media Group, a charitable organisation producing, exhibiting and distributing educational multi-media projects based on Caribbean-heritage stories. Tanika Gupta (born 1 December 1963) is a British playwright. Apart from her work for the theatre, she has also written scripts for television, film and radio plays. Early life Tanika Gupta was born in London to immigrant parents from Kolkata, India where her family had their origins. As a child, Gupta performed Tagore dance dramas with her parents. Her mother Gairika Gupta was an Indian classically trained dancer, and her father Tapan Gupta was a singer. The Indian revolutionary Dinesh Gupta was her great uncle. Parv Bancil (7 February 1967 – 1 April 2017) was a British-Asian playwright and actor. Life and career Parveen Singh Bancil was born in Moshi, Tanzania, in 1967 into an Indian Sikh family, the son of Sohan Singh Bancil and Amrit (Arjan) Kaur Bancil. He was the grandson of Sardar Jogindar Singh Bancil of JS Bancil Building Contractors of Moshi, Tanzania. Dominique Le Gendre (born 16 September 1960 in Trinidad and Tobago) is a music composer based in London. Le Gendre is a former associate of the Royal Opera House and received an opera commission. She has also provided music for the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, Talawa Theatre Company, Theatre of Black Women, among other places. She provided the music for an opera with words by Seamus Heaney.
