Four Aces (passenger Liners)
The 4 Aces were the quartet of passenger-cargo liners ''Excalibur'', ''Exochorda'', ''Exeter'', and ''Excambion'', originally built for American Export Lines by New York Shipbuilding of Camden, New Jersey between 1929 and 1931. AEL placed the "4 Aces" in service between the US and the Mediterranean, offering cruises of up to 40 days. During World War II, all four vessels were taken over by the U.S. Navy, renamed, and designated as AP- and APA-class troop transports. ''Excambion'' became USS ''John Penn'' (APA-23), ''Excalibur'' became USS ''Joseph Hewes'' (AP-50) and ''Exeter'' became USS ''Edward Rutledge'' (AP-52). These three of the original (pre-war) 4 Aces were ultimately lost to enemy action. The pre-war ''Exochorda'' was converted to military transport USS ''Harry Lee'', later sold to Turkish Maritime Lines and renamed ''Tarsus''. The Four Aces
The Four Aces are an American male traditional pop quartet popular since the 1950s. Over the last half-century, the group amassed many gold records. Its million-selling songs include " Love is a Many-Splendored Thing", " Three Coins in the Fountain", " Stranger in Paradise", " Tell Me Why", and "(It's No) Sin". Other big sellers included " Shangri-La", "Perfidia", and " Sincerely". The original members, responsible for every song made popular by the group, included Al Alberts, Dave Mahoney, Lou Silvestri, and Rosario "Sod" Vaccaro. Career Alberts went to South Philadelphia High School and Temple University and served in the United States Navy, where he met Mahoney. Originally, Alberts sang with Mahoney playing behind him, and later they added Vaccaro on trumpet and Silvestri on drums. They played locally in the Philadelphia area, and Alberts started his own record label, Victoria Records, when they could not find a distributor to release their first record, "(It's No) Sin". ...

The Four Aces Club
The Four Aces Club was a pioneering music and recreational space on Dalston Lane in London Borough of Hackney, Hackney, London. Based in a building that had formerly been the North London Colosseum and Amphitheatre and then a cinema, in the 1960s and 1970s the club became one of the first venues to play black music in the United Kingdom. It was credited with playing a significant "role in the evolution of reggae into dance music, from ska, to rocksteady, to Dub music, dub, to lovers rock, lovers, to dancehall and the evolution of Oldschool jungle, jungle." Four Aces (bridge)
The Four Aces was a contract bridge team which dominated tournament play in the mid-thirties. History David Burnstine (later David Bruce and to become an ACBL Hall of Fame member) was a member of the successful Four Horseman team captained by P. Hal Sims but left in 1932 to establish his own team composed of himself, Richard Frey, Howard Schenken and Charles Lockridge. Known as the Bid-Rite team, they were named for the Bid-Rite Playing Card Co., the first manufacturer of four-colored cards. The team was defeated by the Sims team in the 1932 Vanderbilt and Burnstine made roster changes, replacing Lockridge with Oswald Jacoby, whom he recruited from Sims, and adding Michael T. Gottlieb. Being a five-man team, they were referred to as the Four Aces and a Joker. Miguel María Grau Seminario (27 July 1834 – 8 October 1879) was the most renowned Peruvian naval officer and hero of the naval battle of Angamos during the War of the Pacific (1879–1884). Juan Lizardo Montero Flores (1832 in Piura, Peru – 1905) was a Peruvian soldier and politician who held the provisional Presidency of Peru from 1881 to 1883, replacing President Francisco García Calderón, during the Chilean occupation of Peru that took place as a result of the War of the Pacific. He was also Mayor of Lima for a brief period, in 1879. Aurelio García Y García
Aurelio García y García (November 28, 1836 — June 25, 1888) was a Peruvian marine, diplomat and politician. García was a friend and comrade-in-arms of Miguel Grau, Manuel Ferreyros and Lizardo Montero, all of whom were known as the Four Aces of the Peruvian Navy. He was also elected Mayor of Lima in 1877.
