The Foundations
The Foundations were a British soul band (m. 1967–1970). The group's background was: West Indian, White British, and Sri Lankan. Their 1967 debut single "Baby Now That I've Found You" reached number one in the UK and Canada, and number eleven in the US, while their 1968 single "Build Me Up Buttercup" reached number two in the UK and number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The group was the first multi-racial group to have a number one hit in the UK in the 1960s. The Foundations were one of the few British acts to successfully imitate what became known as the Motown Sound. The Foundations signed to Pye, at the time one of only four big UK record companies (the others being EMI, which included the HMV, Columbia and Parlophone labels, Decca, and Philips, which also owned Fontana). Foundations (song)
"Foundations" is a song co-written by British singer-songwriter Kate Nash for her debut album, '' Made of Bricks'' (2007). It was released as the album's lead single in June 2007, her first single since signing with Fiction Records after the success of her debut single " Caroline's a Victim". Music and structure The song is written in C major and uses the three main chords of the key C, F, and G as the riff, which is used as a simple eight bar ostinato. It follows the A-B-A-B-A-B-C-B pattern. During the writing process, producer Paul Epworth suggested to Nash to write "something like 'Cheree' by Suicide", which has a similar chord progression. Music video The music video was directed by Kinga Burza and makes use of video, still shots and stop motion animation. Foundation engineering is the application of soil mechanics and rock mechanics (geotechnical engineering) in the design of foundation elements of structures. 4 Corners is a New Zealand Hip-Hop group formed in 1998. Their songs ''On the Down Low'' and ''By My Side'' charted on New Zealand's top 40 in 2005 and 2006 respectively. History The name ''4 Corners'' originates from the 4 elements of the Hip Hop culture: MCing (rapping), DJing, breaking (breakdancing) and graffiti art (Graf). 4 Corners consists of two MC's, Koma and Hepaklypz, with DJ Omega B, and was formed in 1998 with members from different groups within Hamilton. ''The Foundation'' is the seventh and final studio album by hip hop group Geto Boys, released in 2005. It is their second group reunification album since ''The Resurrection'' in 1996. Its only credited guest appearance comes from Z-Ro and it has production by Tone Capone, Mike Dean, Scarface, Mr. Mixx and Cory Mo. It did fairly well commercially, reaching #19 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. The two singles released that did not chart were "G-Code/When It Gets Gangsta/The Secret" and "Yes, Yes, Y'All". The latter was used on EA Sports's ''Fight Night Round 2'' and on '' 25 to Life''.
