Augustin Félix Fortin
Augustin Félix Fortin (1763–1832), a French painter of landscapes, and of genre and historical subjects, was born in Paris in 1763, and studied under his uncle, the sculptor Félix Lecomte. He was, however, chiefly noted for his sculpture, for which he obtained the Prix de Rome in 1783. Jean Nicolas Fortin
Jean Nicolas Fortin (1750–1831) was a French maker of scientific instruments, born on 9 August 1750 in Mouchy-la-Ville in Picardy. Among his customers were such noted scientists as Lavoisier, for whom he made a precision balance, Gay-Lussac, François Arago and Pierre Dulong. Fortin is chiefly remembered for his design of barometer, now called a ''Fortin barometer'', which he introduced in about 1800. In this, the mercury cistern has a glass portion through which the mercury exposed to the atmosphere can be seen, and an ivory needle which was made just to touch its mirror image in the mercury before the reading was taken. This allows for the fact that, when the mercury column in the closed tube falls, the level in the cistern rises, and the difference in height between the two cannot be accurately determined unless the height of the latter is taken into account. Ernest Fortin
Ernest L. Fortin, A.A. (December 17, 1923 – October 22, 2002) was a professor of theology at Boston College. While engaged in graduate studies in France, he met Allan Bloom, who introduced him to the work of Leo Strauss. Father Fortin worked at the intersection of Athens and Jerusalem. Early life Fortin was born to a French-Canadian mother and an American father of French-Canadian stock. He was raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He attended Assumption College and Laval University, graduating from Assumption College in 1946. He had joined the Augustinians of the Assumption in 1944, and following graduation he attended the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, ''Angelicum'' in Rome for his theological education. André "Dédé" Fortin (17 November 1962 – 8 May 2000) was a founding member, frontman, and vocalist of the Québécois band Les Colocs, formed in 1990. Early life Fortin was born to Alfred Fortin and Gisèle Tremblay on a farm near the small village of Saint-Thomas-Didyme, in the rural Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec. He was the tenth of eleven children. When he was eight, the family moved to Normandin, but he always valued his childhood home. Fortin attended public schools and studied cinema at the Université de Montréal with his friend Éric Henry. Les Colocs Fortin was long interested in music and started writing song lyrics. Roman Brian Fortin (born February 26, 1967) is a former NFL player from 1991–2000. He played center, guard, offensive tackle, tackle, and tight end through the course of his career. He was the quarterback for his high school team at Ventura High School. He played the first part of his college football career at Oregon State University, and later transferred to San Diego State. He was selected in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He played with them in the 1991 season, but would end up being picked up by the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. He stayed there through the 1997 season, where he would then play for the San Diego Chargers for his last three seasons. Roman Fortin has five children.
