Fort Walton Beach High School is a secondary school located in the center of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. John Spolski is the current principal. Placement classes have an open enrollment policy. The athletic program offers football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, softball, baseball, swimming, cross country, track, volleyball, girls and boys weightlifting. The Florida Gators football program represents the University of Florida (UF) in American college football. Daniel Carl Wuerffel (born May 27, 1974) is a former college and professional American football quarterback. Wuerffel attended the University of Florida, where he was a prolific passer for the Florida Gators under head coach Steve Spurrier. Wuerffel led the NCAA in touchdown passes in 1995 and 1996 and set numerous school and conference records during his career. Dyron Patrick Nix (February 11, 1967 – December 15, 2013) was an American professional basketball player. The 6'7" 210 pound forward played his college basketball at the University of Tennessee. He was a two time first team All-SEC performer (1988, 1989). Nix was selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round (29th pick overall) of the 1989 NBA draft.
