Format Films
Format Films was a television animation studio which was founded by Herbert Klynn in 1959 with Jules Engel as vice president, Bob McIntosh and Joseph Mugnaini, all of whom were animators. It was most active during the 1960s, producing episodes of ''The Alvin Show'' and ''Popeye the Sailor''. Klynn shut his studio in 1962 but reopened it by 1965 as Format Productions when Engels left for Europe. The studio made eleven sub-contracted shorts in Warner Bros.' theatrical '' Road Runner'' series as well as three ''Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales'' shorts, and produced ''The Lone Ranger'' animated series for CBS in 1966. The Alvin Show
''The Alvin Show'' is an American animated television series that aired on CBS in the early 1960s. This was the first series to feature the singing characters Alvin and the Chipmunks. ''The Alvin Show'' aired for one season, from October 4, 1961, to September 12, 1962 and was originally sponsored by General Foods through its Jell-O gelatin and Post Cereal brands. Although the series was created in color, it was initially telecast in black and white. It was later rebroadcast in color from 1962-65 for Saturday mornings on CBS and aired again Saturday mornings in 1979. Herbert Klynn
Herbert Klynn (November 11, 1917 – February 3, 1999) was an American animator at UPA from 1944 to 1959 eventually rising to the role of Vice President and Production Chief. He worked on various Mr. Magoo cartoons and Gerald McBoing-Boing cartoons as well as cartoon shorts such as ''Madeline'' (1952) and Christopher Crumpet' (1953). In 1959 he founded the television animation studio Format Films, best known for producing ''The Alvin Show'' and ''The Lone Ranger'', as well as eleven Road Runner cartoons and three Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales cartoons for Warner Bros.'s '' Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series. Film title design is a term describing the craft and design of motion picture title sequences. Since the beginning of the film form, it has been an essential part of any motion picture. Originally a motionless piece of artwork called ''title art'', it slowly evolved into an artform of its own. ''Clippety Clobbered'' is a 1966 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' theatrical animated short directed by Rudy Larriva. The short was released on March 12, 1966, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. Plot Wile E. Coyote waits at his mailbox. He looks up to see a U.S. Mail helicopter which drops a big box with a parachute attached to it. As Wile E. holds out his arms to catch the box, Road Runner runs by and taunts him long enough so that he forgets about the descending package which lands on top of his head. After some more taunting from Road Runner which causes his backside to be pricked by a cactus, Wile E. opens his package to reveal a chemistry set. ''Merrie Melodies'' is an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. starting in 1931, during the golden age of American animation, and ending in 1969.
