Forest Lake Resort
Forest Lake Resort was a resort in the Cobb Mountain area of Lake County, California, in an area of wet meadows along Kelsey Creek. Originally a campground, it was developed into a resort in the 1930s to exploit the growing automobile-based recreation market. The resort was sold in 1963. By 1989 it was longer operational, and was being considered for development as a community park site. Location Forest Lake is northwest of Whispering Pines. It is at an elevation of . Forest Lake is dominated by wet meadow and waterway features. Kelsey Creek, from Forest Lake downstream to around Glenbrook, is a federally designated flood boundary. State Route 175 (SR 175) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs through the Mayacamas Mountains, connecting U.S. Route 101 in Hopland in Mendocino County with State Route 29 in Middletown in Lake County. Route description SR 175 connects U.S. Route 101 at Hopland to State Route 29 near Lakeport through the Mayacamas Mountains. From there it joins SR 29 until Kelseyville, where it loops out until meeting SR 29 again at its end at Middletown. Boggs Mountain is a mountain the Mayacamas Mountains in Lake County, California. Part of the mountain holds the Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest. About 80% of the trees were burned in the September 2015 Valley Fire. Name In the early days of settlement of Lake County, the mountain was called Harbin Mountain after a settler named James M. Harbin who around 1856 took control of the land occupied by the Harbin Hot Springs, and gave his name to the springs and the mountain. An 1890 description by the State Mineralogist used this name to refer to the mountain. Later the mountain took the name Boggs Mountain. This name honors Henry C. Glenbrook (formerly Glenbrook Resort) was a resort in Lake County, California. It was located south-southeast of Kelseyville, at an elevation of 2293 feet (699 m). Resort history Unlike many other such resorts, Glenbrook was not constructed around one of California's many hot springs, but rather grew up as a stage stop on the road between Middletown and Lakeport in the late 19th century. Glenbrook Resort was near the point where Bottle Rock Road crossed Kelsey Creek. It was a stage stop between the San Francisco Bay Area to the south and Clear Lake to the north. There were other resorts to the north and south of Glenbrook.
