''Forest'' (russian: Лес) is a 1980 Soviet comedy film based on Alexander Ostrovsky"s comedy directed by Vladimir Motyl. Plot The film tells about the elderly lady Gurmyzhskaya, who lives in the province. Suddenly, a nephew comes to her and Gurmyzhskaya begins to flirt with him. Vladimir Motyl
Vladimir Yakovlevich Motyl (russian: Влади́мир Я́ковлевич Моты́ль; 26 June 1927 – 21 February 2010) was a Soviet and Belarusian film director and screenwriter. Vladimir Motyl was born in Lepiel, Belarus. His father was a Polish émigré, who was arrested in 1930 and sent to Solovki and died there the following year. Many of his other relatives suffered similar treatment. Vladimir and his mother were exiled to the Northern Urals, where he became fascinated in theatre and cinema, and later graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theatrical Institute. For about 10 years he worked in various theatres in the Urals and Siberia and eventually became chief director of Sverdlovsk Young Spectator's Theatre. He decided to start afresh in cinema, despite having no technical qualifications. Eventually he directed his first film, ''Children of Pamirs'' (1963) (''Detyi Pamira/Дети Памира'') in Tajikistan. Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky (russian: Алекса́ндр Никола́евич Остро́вский; ) was a Russian playwright, generally considered the greatest representative of the Russian realistic period. The author of 47 original plays, Ostrovsky "almost single-handedly created a Russian national repertoire." His dramas are among the most widely read and frequently performed stage pieces in Russia. Biography Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky was born on 12 April 1823, in the Zamoskvorechye region of Moscow, to Nikolai Fyodorovich Ostrovsky, a lawyer who received religious education. Nikolai's ancestors came from the village Ostrov in the Nerekhta region of Kostroma governorate, hence the surname. Later Nikolai Ostrovsky became a high-ranked state official and as such in 1839 received a nobility title with the corresponding privileges.
