Fordsdale, Queensland
Fordsdale is a rural locality in the Lockyer Valley Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Fordsdale had a population of 52 people. Geography The terrain in the area is rugged. Lower areas along the creeks have been farmed while the steep and elevated parts remain vegetated. Silky Oak Creek joins Ma Ma Creek, a tributary of Lockyer Creek at Fordsdale. Dwyers Scrub Regional Park has been established in the west. The Gatton–Clifton Road runs through from north-east to south. History The locality is said to be named after William Thomas Ford, a farmer of Mount Whitestone, who carried the mail from Grantham to Mount Whitestone run from 1896. Ma Ma Creek Upper Provisional School opened on 8 July 1895 with Mr H. C. Tronc as headmaster. In 1906, it was renamed Fordsdale Provisional School. Lockyer Creek
The Lockyer Creek is a creek located in South East Queensland, Australia. A tributary of the Brisbane River, the creek is a major drainage system in the Lockyer Valley. Rising on the eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, the creek flows generally north-easterly for more than before it reaches its confluence with the Brisbane River north-northeast of , and downstream from the Wivenhoe Dam. The creek is named after Edmund Lockyer. Edmund Bede "Ted" Maher (8 June 1891 – 31 December 1982) was an Australian politician, Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of Queensland 1936 to 1941 and Federal senator 1950 to 1965. Born in Forbes, New South Wales, he was educated at Catholic schools before becoming a post office worker and stock agent. Grantham, Queensland
Grantham is a rural town and locality in the Lockyer Valley Region, Queensland, Australia. The town is located west of the state capital, Brisbane. In the , the locality of Grantham had a population of 634 people. Geography The Warrego Highway passes through from east to west. The north-west corner is occupied by part of the Lockyer State Forest. History The area was first settled in 1841, by George Mocatta. He named his pastoral run ''Grantham,'' which became the name of the town. In 1866 a railway siding from the main Toowoomba line was opened which assisted in the development of a small settlement. It wasn't until the mid-1870s that the Grantham railway station was built. In August 1895 tenders were called for the erection of a provisional school at Grantham Scrub.
