For What It's Worth (Placebo Song)
"For What It's Worth" is the first official Single (music), single from Placebo (band), Placebo's sixth studio album, ''Battle for the Sun''. Release It was released on 20 April 2009, in a similar fashion to "Battle for the Sun (song), Battle for the Sun"; it first played on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 programme, and then was made available as a digital download from iTunes and emusic. The single featured a cover of Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good" as the B-side. The music video, video for the song was released on the following day, on the band's MySpace page. The single was released in the U.S. via iTunes and UK via emusic on 5 May 2009. Reception The single debuted in the UK Singles Chart at No. 97 after it was released exclusively via iTunes. Placebo (band)
Placebo are a British rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Following the release of a demo, a split single, and their eponymous debut album, Placebo gained exposure in 1997 after the single " Nancy Boy" became popular in the UK, a song notorious at the time for its gender-bending content. The band stood out amongst the Britpop scene they were associated with at the time for their androgynous appearance and musical content, and lyrics which openly discussed sexuality, mental health, and drug use. Kerrang! Award For Best Single
The Kerrang! Award for Best Single is an honor presented at the Kerrang! Awards, an annual ceremony established in 1993 to recognise achievements in rock music.
