''For Ladies Only'' is a 1927 American silent comedy film directed by Henry Lehrman and Scott Pembroke and starring John Bowers, Jacqueline Logan and Edna Marion.Connelly p.350 Synopsis A businessman thinks that all women are frivolous creatures only interested in clothes, make-up and perfume. He decides to fire all his women employees including his female secretary Ruth Barton who warns him he will comes to regret it. Finding himself at a loss he turns to her for advice over business deals, but she makes him pay a great deal for it. Finally she intercepts a major order and directs it towards a rival firm. He is forced to concede defeat and agrees to her demand to let all the women return to their jobs, discovering in the process that he is in love with Ruth. Henry Lehrman
Henry Lehrman (March 30, 1881 – November 7, 1946) was an American actor, screenwriter, director and producer. Lehrman was a very prominent figure of Hollywood's silent film era, working with such cinematic pioneers as D. W. Griffith and Mack Sennett. He directed, as well as co-starred in, Charlie Chaplin's very first film, ''Making a Living''. Lehrman was notoriously careless of the safety of the actors who worked for him. He was the lover of the actress Virginia Rappe, for whose death Roscoe Arbuckle, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle (whom Lehrman had directed in about a dozen films in the early 1920s), in a highly publicized series of trials, was accused, and later acquitted, of manslaughter. Henry Roquemore (March 18, 1886 – June 30, 1943) was an American character actor who primarily played bit parts. He appeared in 229 silent and sound films from 1927 until 1943. Many of his roles were uncredited parts in Western movies, but he also appeared in major films including ''Meet John Doe'', ''The Little Foxes'', ''The Magnificent Ambersons'', and the Marx Brothers film ''Yours for the Asking''. He was sometimes credited as Henry Rocquemore. Career Born in Marshall, Texas, Roquemore began his career in entertainment by staging local talent shows, for clubs in his hometown of Marshall, Texas. Kathleen Chambers (actor)
Kathleen Chambers CBE (born Ethel Kathleen Mee, 28 October 1879 – 15 April 1965) was a pioneer female politician who was the first woman to be Lord Mayor of Bradford holding that position in 1945–1946. Early life Chambers was born in Leeds in 1879, the third daughter of Thomas Mee and Ellen Mee (). Her father died in 1891 and she was raised by her guardian, Conservative MP, Ernest Gray in London where she became his private secretary. She became disenchanted with the Conservative party over the party's stance on women's suffrage and after meeting teacher and union official T. P. Sykes she began to support socialist causes. She and Sykes married in December 1911 and she moved with him to Bradford where he was headmaster of Great Horton Elementary School. In 1919 Mr Sykes was elected as a Labour councillor to the West Riding County Council but died only a few weeks later.
