Foothill High School is located in Bakersfield, California and serves grades 9–12. Accomplishments Their speech and debate team won the State Championship (small schools) in 2004. In 2010, the "We The People" team made it to state for the first time in the school's history. Although they did not make it to the final rounds in the capital, Unit 4 of the team received a Unit award out of the remaining 7 schools. On May 30, 2013, Foothill High School had their fiftieth commencement ceremony; the 2013 graduating class received a commemorative trophy and one-of-a-kind diploma covers with the school's golden anniversary Trojan emblem. Jonathan David Baker (born August 13, 1972) is a former American football placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. Joey Porter
Joseph Eugene Porter (born March 22, 1977) is an American former football outside linebacker who played 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), and is a former outside linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After playing college football at Colorado State, he was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. Rashaan Shehee (born June 20, 1975) is a former running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. Shehee attended Foothill High School in Bakersfield, California. He then played collegiately for the Washington Huskies. He played 2 seasons in the NFL, both for the Chiefs. He started 5 games in 1999. Lonnie Jewel Shelton (October 19, 1955 – July 8, 2018) was an American National Basketball Association (NBA) player who played from 1976 to 1985. Early years Shelton played college basketball for Oregon State University. He was drafted by the Memphis Sounds (soon to become the Baltimore Claws) of the American Basketball Association in 1975 but elected to stay in college. He was then selected by the New York Knicks in the second round of the 1976 NBA draft. Professional career Shelton led the NBA in personal fouls in his first two seasons with New York. Chris Childs (born November 20, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player, who played primarily at the guard position. Early basketball career Childs played his high school basketball at Foothill High School and starred at Boise State University in the late 1980s. Childs was the Big Sky Conference Player of the Year in 1989. Despite his collegiate success, Childs went undrafted in the 1989 NBA Draft and began his professional career in the Continental Basketball Association.
