The following is a list of squads for each nation competing in men's football at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Each nation must submit a squad of 18 players, 15 of whom must be born on or after 1 January 1981, and three of whom can be older dispensation players. Football At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's football tournament at the 2004 Summer Olympics was held in Athens and four other cities in Greece from 11 to 28 August. The tournament featured 16 men's national teams from the six continental confederations. The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four, in which each team would play each of the others once. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning with the quarter-finals and culminating with the final at Athens' Olympic Stadium (Athens), Olympic Stadium on 28 August 2004. Dimitris Salpingidis ( el, Δημήτρης Σαλπιγγίδης ; born 18 August 1981) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a winger or a striker. He was known to be "a very quick and useful tool on the counter attack." Kleopas Giannou ( el, Κλέοπας Γιάννου; born 4 May 1982) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career A graduate of the Athenian club's youth system, Giannou was loaned to Olympiakos Volou in summer 2000 until the end of the year, and spent the rest the campaign at Halkidona FC. Giannis Taralidis ( el, Γιάννης Ταραλίδης; born 17 May 1981) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Taralidis started his career by APS Almopos Arideas. In 1999, at the age of 18 started his professional career with the Paniliakos. He remained in the club until the first half of 2003-04 season. Georgios Fotakis ( el, Γεώργιος Φωτάκης; born 29 October 1981) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He last played for Panachaiki. Fanouris Goundoulakis ( el, Φανούρης Γουνδουλάκης; born 13 July 1983) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He now works as a scout for AEK Athens.
