Soccer in New South Wales is a popular participation and spectator sport. It is organised and managed on a state level by two separate governing bodies; Football NSW and Northern New South Wales Football which are affiliated at a national level to Football Federation Australia. New South Wales and the state historically has had a large influence on soccer in Australia. It has the most registered soccer players in the country, with over 457,285 players, and the most teams in the professional A-League competition. New South Wales has the highest participation of any football playing state in the country, with a total of 7% of the population regularly playing or watching the sport. Northern New South Wales Football
Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is the governing body of soccer in the north of New South Wales, Australia. It is a member of the national governing body, Football Australia. The Federation was established the 9 September 1884 as the Northern District British Football Association. To fall in line with the global football identity, the federation was re-branded to Northern NSW Football on 25 October 2006. The Canterbury Bankstown Football Club is a soccer club based in Bankstown, New South Wales. The NSW League Three Men is a defunct regional Australian semi-professional association football league comprising teams from New South Wales. The league was sits at Level 4 on the New South Wales league system (Level 5 of the overall Australian league system). Central Coast Football is a governing body and football (soccer) competition located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales. Its administrative headquarters are based at Pluim Park, Lisarow, New South Wales. The association consists of a Premier League, a Division 1 and ten all ages competitions which correspond to tiers six to seventeen on the Australian soccer pyramid.
