Fonse Faour
Alphonsus (Fonse) Faour (born November 16, 1951, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland) is a former Canadian politician. Faour represented the electoral district of Humber—St. George's—St. Barbe, which he won in a 1978 by-election following the resignation of Jack Marshall. In the general election the following year, Faour retained the renamed seat of Humber—Port au Port—St. Barbe. However, in the 1980 election, Faour was defeated by Brian Tobin. After the election, he became leader of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party from 1980 to 1981. He resigned due to difficulties in concurrently maintaining his law practice and leading the party without a seat in the legislature. In 2003, Faour was appointed to the trial division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador. Corner Brook
Corner Brook ( 2021 population: 19,333 CA 29,762) is a city located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Corner Brook is the fifth largest settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador. Located on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River, the city is the second-largest population centre in the province behind St. John's, and smallest of three cities behind St. John's and Mount Pearl. As such, Corner Brook functions as a service centre for western and northern Newfoundland. It is located on the same latitude as Gaspé, Quebec, a city of similar size and landscape on the other side of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Corner Brook is the most northern city in Atlantic Canada. Peter Fenwick (politician)
Peter Fenwick (born July 18, 1944) is a Canadian politician. He is a former leader of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party. Fenwick was born in St. Thomas, Ontario to Digby and Benoit Fenwick of Montreal and Stanbridge East. He and his wife Jennifer moved to Cape St George, Newfoundland in 1968 and had six children. His oldest son attended school at Notre Dame du Cap in the first early immersion French program in 1975 of which five of the six graduated. He was a community college teacher when he was acclaimed provincial NDP leader at the party's convention on November 8, 1981. Fenwick was first elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in a 1984 by-election in Menihek, Labrador. He was the first member of the party to be elected to a seat in the House of Assembly. He was re-elected in 1985. In archival science, a fonds is a group of documents that share the same origin and that have occurred naturally as an outgrowth of the daily workings of an agency, individual, or organization. An example of a fonds could be the writings of a poet that were never published or the records of an institution during a specific period. Fonds are a part of a hierarchical level of description system in an archive that begins with fonds at the top, and the subsequent levels become more descriptive and narrower as one goes down the hierarchy. The level of description goes from fonds to series to file and then an item level. However, between the fonds and series level there is sometimes a sub-fonds or sous-fonds level and between the series to file level there is sometimes a sub-series level that helps narrow down the hierarchy.
