Foluke Adeboye
Foluke Adenike Adeboye (née Adeyokunnu; born 13 July 1948) also known as Mummy G.O. is a pastor, televangelist, conference speaker, author and wife of Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Early life Foluke Adeboye was born Foluke Adenike Adeyokunnu on 13 July 1948 to the family of Jacob Adelusi Adeyokunnu, a prince of the royal family of Owa Obokun Oji in Ijeshaland, Osun State, Nigeria. Not only was her father of royal lineage but also a teacher in the Methodist mission and a catechist. She is the eldest of six daughters and four sons born to that family. Ijesha
The Ijesha (written as Ìjẹ̀ṣà in Yoruba orthography) are a sub-ethnicity of the Yorubas of West Africa. Ilesha is the largest town and historic cultural capital of the Ijesha people, and is home to a kingdom of the same name, ruled by an Oba locally styled as the Owa Obokun Adimula. The present ruling family of Ijesha is the Aromolaran family with the current reigning Owa Obokun being Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran. British Nigeria
Colonial Nigeria was ruled by the British Empire from the mid-nineteenth century until 1960 when Nigeria achieved independence. British influence in the region began with the prohibition of slave trade to British subjects in 1807. Britain annexed Lagos in 1861 and established the Oil River Protectorate in 1884. Redeemed Christian Church Of God
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a Pentecostal megachurch and denomination founded in Lagos, Nigeria. The General overseer (most senior pastor) is Enoch Adeboye, ordained in 1981. The church in Lagos had an average church attendance of 50,000 in 2022. History The RCCG was founded in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi (1909–1980) following his involvement in other churches. Rev. Akindayomi chose Enoch Adejare Adeboye as the next General overseer. Enoch Adeboye was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, as at the time he joined the church in 1973. Ilesa () is an ancient town located in the Osun State, southwest Nigeria; it is also the name of a historic kingdom (also known as Ijesha) centred on that village. The University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria and was founded in 1962.
