Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) is a school district headquartered in Rancho Cordova, California. It covers the cities of Folsom, Rancho Cordova, and most of Mather. There are 33 separate schools, including adult education and independent study programs. There are four high schools, four middle schools, twenty-one elementary schools, and five alternative schools. History The Folsom Cordova Unified School District was created in 1949 when the Folsom Union High School District joined with the Granite Grammar School District. The new School District was called the Folsom Cordova Joint School District and there were a total of 767 students enrolled at only two school sites which were Granite Elementary School at 909 Mormon Street and Folsom High School at 715 Riley Street in Folsom. Rancho Cordova is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States which was incorporated in 2003. It is part of the Sacramento Metropolitan Area. The population was 64,776 at the 2010 census. In 2010 and 2019, Rancho Cordova was named as a winner of the All-America City Award. History Originally called Mayhew's Crossing and Hangtown Crossing (c. 1855) during the Gold Rush era, the area was renamed Mayhew Station and Mills Station (c. 1900), respectively. The city itself was named for the Cordova Vineyard, which was located in the center of the Rancho Rio de los Americanos land grant. Folsom High School is a public secondary school in the western United States, located in Folsom, California, a suburb east of Sacramento. Established in 1922, it is a part of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. School history The first campus constructed for Folsom High School was at 715 Riley Street. (The current home of Sutter Middle School.) Before Folsom High existed, students in Folsom attended San Juan High School on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights. A major fire on June 22, 1959 destroyed most of the original buildings on the Folsom High School campus on Riley Street. Vista Del Lago High School is a high school located in Folsom, California. It is one of five high schools in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. The school opened in 2007 to serve the southern side of Folsom and to relieve overcrowding at Folsom High School. The official school colors are navy blue and silver.
