Folk Soul Revival
Folk Soul Revival (also known as FSR) was an American Country music group. Its former members include Allun Cormier (guitar and vocals), Daniel Davis (guitar and vocals), Justin Venable (banjo, harmonica, and vocals), Brandon Sturgill (bass and vocals), Chad Light (electric guitar, banjo, pedal steel), and Justin Louthian (drums, percussion, vocals). Wise, Virginia
Wise is a town in Wise County, Virginia, United States. The population was 3,286 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wise County. It was originally incorporated as the town of Gladeville in 1874. The town's name was changed to Wise in 1924, after Henry A. Wise, the last Virginia governor before the American Civil War and the first governor to hail from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Banjo
The banjo is a stringed instrument with a thin membrane stretched over a frame or cavity to form a resonator. FloydFest
FloydFest is a Music and arts festival held annually near Floyd, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains History The event began in 2002, and spans five days each year with on-site camping and multiple stages featuring rock, bluegrass, reggae, folk, Yiddish, Cajun, or Zydeco, African, Appalachian, and world music performers. The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the 19th edition was deferred to 2021. After the 2022 festival, organizers moved the festival to a site in Check, VA. However, due to environmental concerns about the site, it could not be used for the 2023 festival, which had to be canceled. In addition to music, the festival features local arts and crafts, dance workshops, morning yoga lessons, story telling, poetry readings, and a "Children's Universe" tent. Bristol Rhythm And Roots Reunion
Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion a non-profit organization which hosts an annual 3-day Americana music festival in the twin cities of Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee. Celebrating Bristol's heritage as the "Birthplace of Country Music" (a designation recognizing the early Jimmie Rogers and Carter Family recordings made there in the 1920s collectively known as the Bristol Sessions), Rhythm & Roots has hosted musicians such as Ralph Stanley, Sam Bush, Doc Watson, The Avett Brothers, John Cowan, Langhorne Slim, and Del McCoury. Since the first festival in 2001, Rhythm and Roots has grown to include 4 main stages (3 of which are outdoors), a dance tent, and 12 smaller stages inside the various shops, restaurants, and bars in the 4-block festival area.
