Fogo Island League
The Fogo Premier Division is a tier-2 regional championship played in Fogo Island, Cape Verde. The competition are organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo, ARFF). The winner of the championship plays in the Cape Verdean football Championships of each season while the last placed club relegates and participates in the Second Division in the following season. About the Island/Regional Championships and the Premier Division The island league was formed in 1975 when Cape Verde became independent, unofficial competitions took place in years before the founding. In the mid-1990s, it would become the next island league to also have a second division after Santiago (now divided into two zones). The last place club were relegated, from around 2009, the ninth placed club plays with a runner up of the Second Division in a division decisional match. Fogo Champion's Cup
The Fogo Champion's Cup or the Fogo Champion's Trophy (Portuguese: ''Taça da Campeões do Fogo'', Capeverdean Creole: ALUPEK: ''Tasa da Kampionis du Fugu'') is a single knockout football (soccer) competition that is played each season in the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. The competition features the champion from the Premier Division and the champion of the Second Division. The trophy competition is organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional do Fogo, ARFF). Its current winner is Onze Unidos who won their only title. The Champion's Cup (or Trophy) was introduced in 2016. The first edition took place in November, 2016 and featured Vulcânicos (Premier Division) and Real Marítimo (Second Division) which were the first club to participate. The 2017 edition which featured the Premier Division champ Vulcânicos and the Second Division champ Nova Era was not played as the Second Division club did not shown up. Sports In Fogo, Cape Verde
The island of Fogo in Cape Verde in the westcenter of the Sotavento Islands is home to several teams and clubs. The major professional clubs is Botafogo, semi-pro teams includes Académica do Fogo and Vulcânicos, the remainder including the youth club Juventude and Spartak d'Aguadinha are amateur. The football competition was the third along with Sal to have its own first held in 1976 after the nation's independence. From its foundation to 2005, the island had a single league of each sport, it is currently divided into two divisions, the Premier and the Second. Spartak (Cape Verde)
Associação Spartak D'Aguadinha is a sports club whose football team had played in the Premier division and plays in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in São Filipe's subdivision of Aguadinha located next to Bila Baxo (the city center) in the island of Fogo and plays at Estádio 5 de Julho. The 2014-15 Fogo Island League season was the competition of the second and third tier football in the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. It started on 15 November 2014 and finished on 19 April 2015. The tournament was organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional do Fogo de Futebol, ARFF). The 2010–11 Fogo Island League season began on 13 November and finished on 24 April. Vulcânicos won their 09th title and qualified into the 2011 Cape Verdean Football Championships. The championship was organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo, ARFF). Botafogo for the last time was the defending team of the title. A total of 18 clubs participated in the competition, 10 in the Premier Division and 8 in the Second. Baxada and Juventude were winners of the Second Division while Desportivo de Cova Figueira and Nova Era were relegated into the Second Division for the following season. Cova Figueira has been playing in the Second Division since 2012 but Nova Era did not return until October 2017 into the Premier Division.
