Focke-Wulf Ta 283
The Focke-Wulf Strahlrohrjager was a German swept wing, ramjet-powered interceptor aircraft proposal during World War II. The project was proposed at the same time as the Focke-Wulf Super Lorin and remained only a design study until the surrender of Nazi Germany. Development Power for the Strahlrohrjager was to be provided by a Walter HWK 509 rocket engine for takeoff, and two Pabst ramjets. The rocket would provide enough initial velocity to start the ramjet engines which cannot produce thrust at zero or low airspeed. The ramjets were located on the tips of the sharply swept tailplanes and would be used for cruising. The wings were mounted low in the fuselage and swept at 45°. The Technik Museum Speyer is a technology museum in Speyer (Rhineland-Palatinate), Germany. 208 History The museum was opened in 1991 as a sister museum of the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim and is run by a registered alliance called "Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim e.V.". , it has more than 2,000 exhibits and an exhibition area of more than 150,000 m² (indoors and outdoors). A tailplane, also known as a horizontal stabiliser, is a small lifting surface located on the tail (empennage) behind the main lifting surfaces of a fixed-wing aircraft as well as other non-fixed-wing aircraft such as helicopters and gyroplanes. Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG () was a German manufacturer of civil and military aircraft before and during World War II. Many of the company's successful fighter aircraft designs were slight modifications of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190. It is one of the predecessor companies of today's Airbus. History The company was founded in Bremen on 24 October 1923 as Bremer Flugzeugbau AG by Prof. Henrich Focke, Georg Wulf and Dr. rer. pol. Werner Naumann. Almost immediately, they renamed the company Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG (later Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau GmbH). The Focke-Wulf Ta 183 ''Huckebein'' was a design for a jet-powered fighter aircraft intended as the successor to the Messerschmitt Me 262 and other day fighters in Luftwaffe service during World War II. It had been developed only to the extent of wind tunnel models when the war ended, but the basic design was further developed postwar in Argentina as the FMA IAe 33 Pulqui II. The name ''Huckebein'' is a reference to a trouble-making raven (''Hans Huckebein der Unglücksrabe'') from an illustrated story in 1867 by Wilhelm Busch. Development In early 1944, the Reich Air Ministry (RLM, for ''Reichsluftfahrtministerium'') became aware of Allied jet developments, and were particularly concerned that they might have to face the Gloster Meteor over the continent. The MK 108 (German: ''Maschinenkanone''—"machine cannon") was a 30 mm caliber autocannon manufactured in Germany during World War II by Rheinmetall‑Borsig for use in aircraft. The cannon saw widespread use as an anti-bomber weapon during the second half of the war, first seen in 1943 in the Bf 110G-2 bomber destroyers and Bf 109G-6/U4. Four MK 108's formed the main armament of the Me 262 the next year. It could be found on some versions or optional mountings on practically every other German fighter of the era.
