Flávio Miguel Magalhães Sousa Meireles (born 3 October 1976) is a Portuguese retired Association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder#Defensive midfielder, defensive midfielder, and is the director of football of Vitória S.C., Vitória de Guimarães. Most of his 16-year professional career was associated with Vitória S.C., Vitória de Guimarães, which he represented in three different spells, appearing in nearly 250 official games. Club career Born in Ribeira de Pena, Vila Real District, Meireles began his professional career with Vitória S.C., Vitória de Guimarães, having no impact whatsoever at the club in his first spell and moving to the lower leagues in 1996, first with Moreirense F.C., Moreirense FC (where he also appeared very rarely, in the Segunda Liga, second division) then AD Fafe. The Taça de Portugal (; "Cup of Portugal") is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Placard since the 2015–16 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions. Matches are played from August–September to May–June, and the final is traditionally held at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, near Lisbon. The 2010–11 Taça de Portugal, also known as Taça de Portugal Millennium for sponsorship reasons, was the 71st season of the Taça de Portugal. A total of 172 clubs from all four tiers of Portuguese football took part in this tournament.
