Floyd Morris
Floyd Emerson Morris (born 23 July 1969) is a former Jamaican politician from the People's National Party. He was the 12th President of the Senate of Jamaica. Morris, who began losing his sight during high school and lost it fully six years later, became the first blind member of the Senate when he was appointed in 1998. Early life Floyd Morris was born on 23 July 1969 in Bailey's Vale, near Port Maria, Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica. His father, Lloyd Morris, was a fireman, and his mother, Jemita Pryce, was a dressmaker. Morris has four brothers and three sisters. Morris began to lose his sight in high school, due to glaucoma. Attempts to treat the glaucoma with medication and laser treatments were unsuccessful, and six years after he began to lose his sight, he became completely blind. Braille (Pronounced: ) is a tactile writing system used by people who are visually impaired, including people who are Blindness, blind, Deafblindness, deafblind or who have low vision. It can be read either on Paper embossing, embossed paper or by using refreshable braille displays that connect to computers and smartphone devices. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is an Adventist Protestant Christian denomination which is distinguished by its observance of Saturday, the seventh day of the week in the Christian (Gregorian) and the Hebrew calendar, as the Sabbath, and its emphasis on the imminent Second Coming (advent) of Jesus Christ. 2011 Jamaican General Election
General elections were held in Jamaica on 29 December 2011. The elections were contested mainly between the nation's two major political parties, the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), led by Andrew Holness, and the Portia Simpson-Miller-led opposition People's National Party (PNP). The result was a landslide victory for the PNP which won 42 of the 63 seats, a two-thirds majority. Background Since the previous elections in 2007, the number of seats had been increased from 60 (an even number) to 63 (an odd number). Horace Washington Dalley (born December 17, 1954) is a Jamaican educator and politician, representing the People's National Party (PNP). He was Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Clarendon Northern, serving from 1989 to 2007, and again from 2011 to 2020. He served as Minister of Land and Environment from 2001 to 2002, Minister of Labour and Social Security from 2002 to 2006, Minister of Health from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2015 to 2016. General elections were held in Jamaica on 3 September 2007. They had originally been scheduled for 27 August 2007 but were delayed due to Hurricane Dean.
