Flowerdale, Tasmania
Flowerdale is a locality and small rural community of Waratah-Wynyard, in north-west Tasmania. Significant geographic features include the Inglis River and the confluence of its largest tributary, the Flowerdale River. The 2011 census determined a population of 324 for the state suburb of Flowerdale, which includes Flowerdale and the nearby Table Cape locality. History Flowerdale Post Office opened on 1 March 1891 and closed in 1981. The Preolenna line was a railway line which extended from the Flowerdale junction, to as far as Maweena, a small distance past Preolenna. Flowerdale is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is in the Shire of Murrindindi local government area, from the state capital, Melbourne and in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, in the upper catchment of the Goulburn River system. At the 2021 Census, Flowerdale had a population of 790. Flowerdale Post Office opened on 4 February 1881 and closed in 1974. The area was devastated by a bushfire in February 2009 with the loss of many houses, however the school, hotel and community hall were spared.
