Flower Hujer
Flower Hujer (September 30, 1907 – May 1, 1999) was an American dancer and modern dance choreographer. Life and career Flower Hujer was born in Hollywood. She studied ballet under Theodore Kosloff and began her dance career in ballet and films on the West Coast. She moved to Manhattan in the early 1940s, where she performed in Broadway musicals including ''Jackpot'' and ''By Jupiter'', and also toured the United States in musical theater productions. Hujer formed the Flower Hujer Dance Theater in 1949 and began to create works based on religious and nature themes which were noted for their dignity and simplicity. She also created works for musical theater. Noted dancer and choreographer Louis Falco danced in her company in the 1960s. Hujer continued to appear onstage until 1990. Theodore Kosloff
Theodore Kosloff (born Fyodor Mikhailovich Kozlov, russian: Фёдор Михайлович Козлов; January 22, 1882 – November 22, 1956) was a Russian-born ballet dancer, choreographer, and film and stage actor. He was occasionally credited as Theodor Kosloff. Career Born in Moscow in 1882, Kosloff began his professional ballet career after training at Moscow's Imperial Theater. After graduating in 1901, he began touring internationally with the Diaghilev Ballet Company which he had joined in 1909. He was a preferred partner of Tamara Karsavina. After arriving in the United States in 1909, Kosloff was introduced to influential film director Cecil B. DeMille by the actress and writer Jeanie MacPherson. ''Jackpot'' is an American musical with music by Vernon Duke, lyrics by Howard Dietz, and a musical book by Guy Bolton, Sidney Sheldon, and Ben Roberts. The musical premiered on Broadway at the Alvin Theatre on January 13, 1944. It closed on March 11, 1944 after a total of 69 performances. Directed by Roy Hargrave, the production starred Nanette Fabray as Sally Madison, Betty Garrett as Sgt. Louis Falco
Louis Falco (August 2, 1942 – March 26, 1993) was an American dancer and choreographer. Life and career Louis Falco was born in New York City of southern Italian immigrant parents. He began his study of dance in the 1950s at The Henry Street Playhouse with Murray Louis and Alwin Nikolais. He attended the High School of Performing Arts and as a student began performing with Charles Weidman. In 1960 he began dancing professionally with José Limón, and also appeared with Flower Hujer, Alvin Ailey and Donald McKayle. He danced with the José Limón Dance Company from 1960–70 and danced opposite Rudolf Nureyev in Limon's ''The Moor's Pavane'' on Broadway from 1974-75.
