The Flower City Union is an American professional soccer team based in Rochester, New York, United States, that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association, a third tier league of the United States soccer league system. Its home stadium is Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium. History In 2017, the long-time professional soccer team in Rochester, the USL's Rochester Rhinos, announced that they were going on hiatus as of the 2018 season. The departure of the Rhinos left Rochester without a professional soccer team for the first time since 1995 and left the team's stadium, Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium, without a tenant in 2019. In 2020, an ownership group headed by David Weaver, the CEO and founder of Rochester-based Aphex BioCleanse Systems Inc. and a former Kodak optical engineer, submitted an application for a NISA team in Rochester. Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium
Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium, also called the "downtown soccer stadium", is a soccer-specific stadium in Rochester, New York within the Rochester Community Sports Complex. It is home to the Flower City Union of the National Independent Soccer Association. Previously to the Flower City Union, the stadium was home in 2018 to the Rochester Lancers and Lady Lancers of the NPSL and UWS, respectively. The stadium originally hosted the Rochester Rhinos of the USL, the Rochester Rattlers of MLL, and the Western New York Flash of the NWSL. Jordan Saling
Jordan Saling (born March 15, 1996) is a footballer who plays as a midfielder for Flower City Union in the National Independent Soccer Association. Born in the mainland United States, he represents the Puerto Rico national team. Youth career During his youth Saling played for Parsippany SC, NASA United, and Paramus Catholic High School. College career For the 2016/2017 season, Saling played college soccer for the Generals of Herkimer County Community College. He was the team's second-top scorer with twelve goals while adding nine assists as he started all twenty of the team's matches. He was named national player of the week, first team All Mountain Valley, first team All-Region, and to the NSCAA All East Team. For the 2017/18 season he transferred to Wilmington University. The 2022 Flower City Union season was the club's first season of existence, and their first in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), the third tier of American soccer. The Union's season began on March 26, 2022, and concluded on October 10, 2022. The Union finished at the bottom of the NISA table. Andre "Dre" Deas (born November 7, 1997) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Flower City Union, in the National Independent Soccer Association. The National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States. The league is in the third tier of American soccer and began play in 2019. NISA initially used a fall-to-spring season format with a winter break but have switched to spring-to-fall which is more common in the United States.
