FlowRider (Dreamworld)
FlowRider is a sheet wave FlowRider attraction at the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. History In early 2006 construction began for the FlowRider. It was constructed on part of the site of the former Thunderbolt roller coaster which was removed in 2004. On 23 June 2006, the attraction had its soft opening which was attended by the attraction's designer Tom Lochtefeld as well as several surfers, snowboarders, wakeboarders and skateboarders. The next day, on 24 June 2006, the attraction officially opened to the public. The original Thunderbolt station was converted into a merchandise shop, changing rooms and toilets. It was later redeveloped to provide an internal gate through to WhiteWater World. At the time of opening, it was Australia's first and only FlowRider. Ocean Parade (Dreamworld)
Ocean Parade is a themed land at the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It features 3 of the ''Big 7 Thrill Rides'' at Dreamworld. The Claw, The Gold Coaster and Tail Spin. Are within close proximity of each other. Ocean Parade has an Australian beach culture theme, and has beach-themed rides scattered around the area. It currently provides a link between Main Street, DreamWorks Experience, and the adjacent water park WhiteWater World. Wakeboard
Wakeboarding is a water sport in which the rider, standing on a wakeboard (a board with foot bindings), is towed behind a motorboat across its wake and especially up off the crest in order to perform aerial maneuvers. A hallmark of wakeboarding is the attempted performance of midair tricks. Wakeboarding was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques. The rider is usually towed by a rope behind a boat, but can also be towed by cable systems and winches, and be pulled by other motorized vehicles like personal watercraft, cars, trucks, and all-terrain vehicles. Wave Loch
Wave Loch Inc. is a surf ride manufacturing company responsible for such water rides as the FlowBarrel, Flying Reef, SurfPool, Wave House franchises, and, formerly, FlowRider. History During the 1980s, Tom Lochtefeld was a partner in the development of Raging Waters water parks in the United States. He created a water park attraction to simulate the riding of waves in the ocean. In 1988, a patent was taken out for "a wave-forming generator for generating inclined surfaces on a contained body of water". This was the concept of a sheet wave, the basis of most of Wave Loch's rides. Lochtefeld worked with Charles Sauerbier, Carl Ekstrom and others to model the wave using wave tanks at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla. Big Red Car Ride (Dreamworld)
The Big Red Car Ride was a dark ride that takes 6 guests at a time on a car journey through the Wiggles' house. The house features Wag's Kennel, Henry's Underwater Big Band, and Dorothy's rosy garden. The attraction opened with Wiggles World on 17 September 2005 and closed on 12 August 2020. The ride takes place inside The Wiggles' house with several of themed rooms dedicated to The Wiggles' characters. ''V8 Supercars RedLine'' is a racing simulator based upon Australia's V8 Supercars series. It is an upcharge attraction which allows up to 4 guests to participate in a 24-car race around Bathurst. Located in the southern portion of Ocean Parade, V8 Supercars RedLine forms part of Dreamworld's marketing initiative, Adrenalin Alley which incorporates the FlowRider and AVPX. AVPX
AVPX (short for Alien vs. Predator vs. You) was a themed indoor laser skirmish attraction at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The attraction was based on the ''Alien vs. Predator'' films (mainly the first film). It was the biggest indoor laser skirmish attraction in Australia and was included in Dreamworld's admission price. History On 2 February 2009, the Vortex closed and was removed from the park. The ride building remained standing and was remodelled for use in Dreamworld's new attraction. On 10 April 2009, AVPX officially opened to the public. WhiteWater World is a seasonal water park situated in the suburb of Coomera on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is owned and operated by Ardent Leisure and is the sister park to Dreamworld. After years of planning and a year of construction, WhiteWater World opened to the public on 8 December 2006. The ten Australian beach culture themed attractions cost approximately A$56 million.
