Florida–Miami Baseball Rivalry
The Florida–Miami baseball rivalry is an American college baseball rivalry between the University of Florida Gators and University of Miami Hurricanes. The Florida and Miami baseball series began in 1950, and the game has usually been played at least two times during each regular season since 1960. Since the 2004 season, the two teams have played a weekend series in the early portion of the non-conference schedule, alternating each season between Coral Gables and Gainesville. The Florida Gators baseball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of baseball. Florida competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Miami Hurricanes Baseball
The Miami Hurricanes baseball team is the college baseball program that represents the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Since 1973, the program has been one of college baseball's elite with 25 College World Series appearances, winning four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999, and 2001) and advancing to the NCAA regionals a record 44 consecutive years, from 1973 to 2016. NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is held each year from May through June and features 64 college baseball teams in the United States, culminating in the eight-team Men's College World Series at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. Tournament format The tournament is unique in that it features four tiers of competition, alternating between double-elimination brackets and best-of-three series. In fact, throughout the entire 64-team tournament, a team can lose a total of four games and still be crowned champions. During team selection, sixteen teams are given "national seeds".
