Florida State Road 24
State Road 24 (SR 24) is an east–west state highway that runs between Cedar Key on the Gulf of Mexico and Waldo, Florida, at US 301. State Road 24 runs along a former branch of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. This branch was originally owned by the Florida Railway and Navigation Company, and used to lead to ferries to both Pensacola, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. It also passes through Rosewood, site of the infamous 1923 massacre. Route description Levy County Starting as D Street in Cedar Key, State Road 24 skips over Jackson Island and Sunset Island before making its way across the mainland of northwestern Florida. In the City of Otter Creek, the road intersects US 19- 98, at a blinker light, which hardly looks like a city at all. Gainesville Regional Airport is a public airport three miles northeast of Gainesville, in Alachua County, Florida, United States. It is owned by Gainesville-Alachua Co. Auth. State Road 222 (SR 222) is a 14.174-mile-long state road that serves northern Gainesville. The western terminus is at a diamond interchange with I-75 at exit 390, and the eastern terminus is at a fork at SR 26 just east of Gainesville. It is 4 lanes wide, but narrows to 2 lanes east of Airport Access Road, where it runs along the northwestern edges of the Newnans Lake State Forest followed by the Newnans Lake Conservation Area. State Road 331 (SR 331) is a short state highway running south and east of Gainesville, although it once stretched as far south as Williston. It also serves as a truck route for State Roads 24, 26, and 121 and US 441. Despite skirting the Gainesville City Limits, SR 331 runs north and south as a four-lane divided rural highway. Route description SR 331 begins at SR 121 east of Interstate 75 (I-75) at exit 382, when SR 121 makes a sharp left turn from Southwest Williston Road onto Southwest 34th Street. State Road 26 (SR 26) is a east–west route across North Central Florida. Route description The western terminus of SR 26 is at US 19/ 98/ 27 Alternate (unsigned SR 55) in Fanning Springs, near the Gilchrist/Levy county line. The route proceeds east through Trenton where it is named West Wade Street and East Wade Street, then into Alachua County and Newberry as West Newberry Road, where it briefly runs through the city's historic district. After running through the historic district, it intersects with US 27- 41 (unsigned SR 45), and continues to maintain the same street name even as it passes through the communities of Jonesville and Tioga before encountering the interchange with Interstate 75 just west of Gainesville. State Road 20 (SR 20) is a east-to-west route across northern Florida and the Florida Panhandle in the United States. Route description Okaloosa County (Niceville and Bluewater Bay) SR 20 starts at SR 85 in Niceville as John Sims Parkway, which travels to Eglin AFB East Gate through Valparaiso as westbound SR 85 and southbound SR 397. SR 20 heads slightly southeast while SR 85 goes north towards Crestview. The road shortly after intersects the southern terminus of SR 285 as it passes by Niceville High School, reducing to four lanes from six lanes. Interstate 75 (I-75) is a part of the Interstate Highway System and runs from the Hialeah–Miami Lakes border, a few miles northwest of Miami, to Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Goethe State Forest
The Goethe State Forest is in the U.S. state of Florida. The forest is located near the gulf coast, north of Dunnellon. Four trailheads are located on County Road 337. The main trail usage is equestrian, both riders and carts. Goethe is known for its population of red cockaded woodpeckers, a rare bird endemic to the longleaf pine forests of the southeastern coastal plain. The forest was established in 1992 and named for James Tillinghast Goethe (1897-1993), a local lumber company owner who donated most of his land to the state for preservation. Other tracts of the land were purchased separately in 2010. The main tract of the forest is also co-owned by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which declares it the Goethe Wildlife Management Area.
