Florida Open
The Florida Open is the Florida state open golf tournament, open to both amateur and professional golfers. It is now organized by the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA). It has been played annually since 1942 at a variety of courses around the state. There were earlier "Florida Open"s played in the 1920s and 1930s, not associated with the current version, that are considered official PGA Tour events. Florida
Florida is a state located in the Southeastern region of the United States. Hurricane Frances
Hurricane Frances was the second most intense tropical cyclone in the Atlantic during 2004 and proved to be very destructive in Florida. It was the sixth named storm, the fourth hurricane, and the third major hurricane of the 2004 Atlantic hurricane season. The system crossed the open Atlantic in late August, moving to the north of the Lesser Antilles while strengthening. Its outer bands struck Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands while passing north of the Caribbean Sea. The storm's maximum sustained wind peaked at , achieving Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. As the system's forward motion slowed, the eye passed over San Salvador Island and very close to Cat Island in the Bahamas. Frances was the first hurricane to impact the entire Bahamian archipelago since 1928 and almost completely destroyed their agricultural economy. Howard Dudley Hart (born August 4, 1968) is an American professional golfer with two PGA Tour wins in an injury-riddled career. Early years Hart was born in Rochester, New York. He attended Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School in Miami, Florida. College career He accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he was a member of coach Lynn Blevin and coach Buddy Alexander's Florida Gators men's golf teams from 1987 to 1990. Bart Bryant
Barton Holan Bryant (November 18, 1962 – May 31, 2022) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions. Early life Bryant was born in Gatesville, Texas, the son of a Baptist pastor. He attended New Mexico State University, where he was a two-time All-American as a member of the golf team. Professional career Bryant turned professional in 1986. Bryant did not win on the PGA Tour until his 187th start, the 2004 Valero Texas Open. His entire career was plagued by injuries and he graduated from PGA Tour Q School six times before his win. At 41 he was the oldest first time winner on the tour in nine years. In 2005 he won the Memorial Tournament and the season ending Tour Championship to finish ninth on the money list with earnings of $3,249,136, which was more than he had earned in total in his first eighteen seasons on the PGA and Nationwide tours from 1986 to 2003, during which his best money list finish on the main tour was 80th. Rodney Butcher
Rodney Butcher (born February 4, 1970) is an American professional golfer. Butcher was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He went to Florida Southern College (where he was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American) and graduated in 1992 with a degree in finance. He turned pro that same year. Butcher played on the Nike Tour (now Nationwide Tour) full-time in 1998. He does not currently play on a specific tour, and over the years has not amassed much success on either the PGA Tour or the Nationwide Tour. He has, however, won many state opens along with the 2003 Bay Mills Open Players Championship on the Canadian Tour. In 2009, Butcher played in three Nationwide Tour events, and three PGA Tour events, after a 5-year absence from either Tour. Jay Townsend (golfer)
Jay Townsend (born March 14, 1962) is an American professional golfer and broadcaster. Touring professional career Townsend was born in Michigan but grew up in Ohio. His father was a club professional. Townsend attended the University of Florida and was on the golf team. He was an All-American and graduated in 1984. He succeeded qualified for the European Tour in the fall of 1984 and joined the European Tour before the 1985 season. In his first season, Townsend played in 14 events and made the majority of cuts. However he did not record many high finishes while retaining his tour card. Townsend’s Career in Europe stretched form 1985 through 1998. He says he enjoyed the experience in Europe immensely.
