Florence City Schools is the public school district of the city of Florence, Alabama. As of the 2004–2005 school year it has some 4,188 students and 235 full-time teachers. Florence City Schools offers 14 Advanced Placement courses, 52 career/tech courses, 14 competitive sports with 61 teams, and education from the "cradle to career." According to 2012 U.S. News Best High Schools, Florence City Schools was ranked #17 out of a total of 370 high schools in the state of Alabama placing them in the top 5% of Alabama schools. Pre-kindergarten (also called Pre-K or PK) is a voluntary classroom-based preschool program for children below the age of five in the United States, Canada, Turkey and Greece (when kindergarten starts). Florence, Alabama
Florence is a city in, and the county seat of, Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States, in the state's northwestern corner. It is situated along the Tennessee River and is home to the University of North Alabama, the oldest college in the state. Coffee High School (Alabama)
Coffee High School was a public high school in Florence, Alabama. After the 2003–04 school year, the school merged with Bradshaw High School to form Florence High School. History Coffee High School was founded in 1914 as the first public high school in Florence. Classes were first held in a rented antebellum home on North Pine Street, in the Sannoner Historic District. The school moved to another home before a permanent building on Jackson Highway (now Hermitage Drive) was completed in 1917. At the time, the school had 400 students; the first senior class graduated in 1918 with 11 students. By the late 1940s, Florence's growth fueled by the construction of Wilson Dam and the Tennessee Valley Authority's potassium nitrate plants had overcrowded Coffee. Classes were held in split sessions in the morning and afternoon. A new campus was completed in 1951. Beniquez Jacoi Brown (born April 29, 1993) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Mississippi State. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2016, and later played for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football and the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL. Braxton L. Garrett (born August 5, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB).
